Simple fix for Vallejo paints

Post by splash »

Are you like me, do you have problems stirring the paint in the Vallejo paint pots, then here is a simple quick fix. Pop down to you local bycicle shop and ask for a handful of stainless steel ball bearings and pop one in each pot, you can now shake the pot to stir the paint.

I use 3 of them, actually in every paint I use. And I see MiG is now putting them in.

I have found the need sometimes to pull the little cap off and stir.

It's a good tip however ensure that they are marine grade stainless steel , if they rust you will lose your paints

Don't use ISO to thin them, gives you a nice thick paste.

It's because they're water based. IPA does that to all water based acrylics.

Don't ask me how I know

Perhaps an even better way to mix Vallejo paints is to put in a 5mm stainless steel nut. Ball bearings do the job but can get stuck in the neck of the paint bottle. And, as Joker56 points out, use marine grade stainless steel nuts or they will rust in the paint and ruin it.
