Re: Feanors Mighty Works...
Oh yes! I'm of a vintage to remember them all....and I bought loads of the collections on VHS....for the education of the kids, obviously
The complete Trumpton, Camberwick Green and Chigley
Complete Bagpuss
Complete Willow the wisp
Complete Mr. Benn
Complete Tintin
Complete Aubrey
and a bunch of 70's cartoon compilations...Fingerbobs, Ludwig, Bod etc.
And also, 'Charley says', a collection of Public Information Films
unfortunately it doesn't contain one of my favourites...the
'Sir Isaac Newton tells us why
an apple falls down from the sky
and from this fact it's very plain
all other objects do the same
a brick, a bolt, a bar, a cup
invariably fall down, not up.
and every common working tool
is governed by the selfsame rule
if at work you drop a spanner
it travels in a downward manner
and causes a fifth of accidents or more
as illustrates old Newtons law.
But one thing he forgot to add
the damage won't be half as bad
if you are wearing the proper clothes
especially on your head and toes.
These clothes are here to save the wearer from an early grave
So best foot forward, and take care
about the kind of clothes you wear.
It's better to be sure than dead,
SO GET A HAT, AND KEEP YOUR HEAD!
Don't think to go without is brave,
the effects of gravity can be grave!"
There is also a 'Charley Live' non-animation one, but I fear that might be withdrawn now due to the inclusion of 'Clunk Click' and 'Teach your kids to swim' films

Re: Feanors Mighty Works...
"Black Pig" It's a small, lovely, adorable, pirate ship.
Sometimes the talent consists exactly in that: try five dozen times when others stop at three dozen...! (F.Labelle)
I think that modeling is a subtle mix of zen philosophy and absolute crazyness - but in my case I would not dare to specify the respective percentage of each......

Ayup PT...
Our DVD collection is almost identical LOL. even down to 'Charley says'. I remember the rhyme too. Great times.
Giulio, It not me literally calling the model 'a pig'. Its a reference to the ship in an old cartoon series 'Captain Pugwash' about the worst pirate who ever sailed the seven seas, and the crazy adventures he had. Its a cartoon series that I remember with affection from my (first) childhood.

Decks swabbed. Very sticky, smelly white gunk It does look quite spectral I have to admit, and I think that if you stained it with some deep-sea colours, it would look like it'd been travelling around the worlds Ocean depths like the Flying Dutchman of POTC fame. Wish I had the awful last film on DVD to watch now !

Ayup All...
And so after the madness of Wombourne, we get back to work, before GOING back to work tomorrow. Yesterday I advanced both Beaus, getting the wings (and in the case of the new Beau, the interior too) made up, and by dint of taping it together filling the sink marks in the wing/fuselage joints on the old, for sanding today. I also sprayed the Focus bodyshell and one half of the chassis, but with less than satisfactory results...
However, I also had an issue with the Beaus interior. Now, its a great new kit, etc, etc, but like the typhoon, getting it together is tricky. And I like to dry fit and dry fit again. The floor and 'wing/bulkhead box' should just drop in according to the destructions. however it didnt. The starboard 'wing bulkhead' which is what I'll call it, was jutting out between 1.5/2 mil into the fuselage, and was thus quite noticeable and came in a little more when I slid the wings over the main spars. Now these wing bulkheads are moulded into the floor pan, so the starboard one had to be very gently 'teased' out and glued into a new position. And TBH, Im not too happy about where it is now, but im not gonna keep going at it and snap it off LOL. So just beware is all I'm saying.
The Focus ended up being frustrating too. The first coat of TS-26 White went on fine, but on the second seemed to run down the moulded panel seams and has left grey lines delineating each panel on the bodywork. Most of them will be hidden by TS-49 red, but some wont, like those on the doors, so I dunno what to do about that yet. I didnt spray 'up close and personal' just nice and easy at a reasonable distance, like you would a real car. On the chassis, I seemed to have picked up some unknown contaminant that made the white wrinkle very badly in places, so I had to scrape that off down to the plastic. So that will all have to be flatted off in a coupla days, re-primed and resprayed. Oh the Joys, LOL. But I have had this issue using Tamiya primer and paint before, so I don't know what's caused this.
Pictures of this tale of woe, LOL.
White Liiineess... (you knowworri mean!)
Strange reactions !
Beautiful Beaus !
Wing Bulkheads. Guess which one...
Wings. Almost ready for fight and flight...
Whatever gripes I've had so far, it still is beautiful engineering. No doubt. (Still dont like the hinged fuselage though.) -Stop whinging, ED.

Re: Feanors Mighty Works...
Those new tool kits provide very little wriggle room, I had to fight my Lancaster almost all the way through, but, they do look great when done. Strange paint reactions indeed with the Focus. Plenty of work to be going on with then!
