Great work on the F-5B cockpit Stu and good to see you at it again.

I love the Matchbox F-5 as well. Think I have one around somewhere ready for painting. Must dig it out. :???:

Thanks OT - I agree, it's a really nice kit.

Not much progress but I've given it an undercoat of Citidel Chaos black from my 15 year old rattlecan (which is almost empty :-[ ). It's a really great paint that covers well and seems to be self leveling. I'm experimenting with black for an undercoat to see what effect it has on the top coat - I also think it's easier to make out any surface defects etc. that need work.

It does need a few seems sorting out, and some panel line restoration - that's the next job.

For the NMF I'll be using these new Citidel metallics. I used them before on a few bit of the last what-if I built for my son and they seemed to work really well.

Thanks for looking!

Nice one Stuart - I must say that it is great to see some MB classics adorning your bench!

Thanks Shaun - I do have to say I'm enjoying them. I have a few more jets in the stash, a Corsair II, a Strike Master and a Hunter, but it occurs to me that I haven't built a MB WWII kit for years - I think I might have to address that.

Nice work Stuart! F-5 is looking sharp. Is that the bottom of an Saturn V Rocket beside the F-16?
Paul

This is it. The moment we should have trained for.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!

So after a slow few weeks - here's where I am... (not had much chance to take any pics).

I'd started an Italeri Corsair F4U-7 for the Suez GB but progress was rather slower than I hoped. There is still a fair amount to do - I had a really PITA painting this thing - I started brush painting but had to rub it back and redo. For the 2nd attempt I used a Humbrol Rattle can.

Image

I'm reasonably pleased with it so far - I'm a bit annoyed with the stripes but I do really like the way the cockpit came out.

And here's progress on the F-5B - painting is almost done, I just need to paint the rudder and a few other bits white.

Image

Anyway - onwards and upwards.

Cheers

A pair of really nice builds Stuart. I see the issue re the Suez stripes on the Corsair, which is a bind I'm sure but once touched up it's going to look great in that scheme.

Nice work, Stu. Those black stripes should be relatively painless to touch up. Luckily it's not yellow over black that went bad.

Thanks Gents!

Yeah the strips should be an easy fix - I have made another howling mistake - but I'll keep that to myself
