IPMS Farnborough Modelfest 2014

Post by beany »

IPMS Farnborough Modelfest 2014 - Saturday 20th September

An early plug for this excellent show that I always attend, as have James and Tom in previous years.

This year the CBK SIG has two tables (confirmed) adjacent to the Airfix Tribute Forum/AMSIG which is always an excellent combination. The show is put on by Farnborough IPMS and it says Camberley on the flyer, but as a local once I'd say it is actually in Frimley, Surrey - a pleasant walk from the railway station and within a spit of Junction 4 on the M3 (and a stones throw from the massive Frimley Park Hospital if you come over all queer after seeing an Airfix 1/24 Typhoon for the first time :shock: ).

Flyer for the event: http://www.ipmsuk.co.uk/upload/13948128 ... 202014.pdf;

This will see the first public airing of my Classic British Box art diorama representation of the unforgettable Roy Cross painting of B17-G Flying Fortress "A Bit 'O Lace" that adorned the Airfix kit of the same. But don't let that put you off - there will be plenty of well made models to look at as well... :ha:

Please do post here if you think you can make it so we know who to look out for and have a chat with on the day.

Cheers
Al.

I'll be there too (I am Chairman of IPMS Farnborough so it would be very remiss of me NOT to be there).

Even if I say it myself - I do think it is one of the best local shows around.

All profits made are donated to a local hospice (The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice) so it's all in a good cause.

Al,

I've just PM'd you asking if you'd be there. That'll teach me not to check the Model Shows thread first. I have just checked with t'wife, and she says I can go. Woo hoo! Looking forward to it already!

regards,

Martin

I may need a filter for the piccies - the cheapest fabric I could get for a table cloth was silver-grey! I got 8.0m of the stuff so will probably have to do some trimming on the day!

He does :ha: and some very big hair at the moment, desperately in need of a trip to the barbers.
