Airfix 1/72 F-4B VF-21 Freelancers, Mig Killer USS Midway

Post by Dermo »

Hey everyone,
Just finished this, my first ever Phantom and Airfix's golden oldie - this was from the mid 1980's boxing. I had a lot of fun with it and while she's not the most accurate F-4 out there by a long way (and maybe a little over-weathered), I think it looks ok!

In summary..
Paint: Halfords white from a can, Revell Acrylics brush-painted. Klear, Flory Models wash, W&N Matt varnish.
Decals: Kits' own together with aftermarket (by Afterburner Decals) for VF-21 Freelancers, USS Midway 1965 - Callsign Sundown 102
Extras: Some rescribed panel lines, drilled out cockpit small windows, dropped ailerons, assorted Eduard F-4 photoetch for the cockpit which was scratchbuilt from card and stock (kit seats)

Thanks for looking!
All the best,

Blimey. I thought it was at least 1/48 scale. Damn fine work.

Nice job on this old girl, its only the odd thing like thicker than usual edges (boundary layer plates, exhaust cans) that give it away, otherwise its a superb F-4B.
