F-16A Fighting Falcon

Royal Netherlands Airforce, 40 Years 314 Sqn “Redskins”, Gilzen-Rijen - 1992

Hi everyone,

This is Revell’s little F-16A. The box contains a great selection of decals for several special schemes and I eventually chose this example for the RNLAF.

I decided from the start not to use any of the fuel tanks included in the kit in order to keep the clean lines of this nice looking fighter.

I managed to find a few photos of the actual aircraft carrying blue training missiles but I didn’t like the look of them and painted mine up as per the instructions. The photos also revealed that the wheel hubs should have been black but I had already painted mine white and although it would have been an easy fix I left them alone.

The canopy originally looked good but I have somehow managed to get some dust on the inside which ruins the look a bit but from a distance it still looks ok.

The model was brush painted with Humbrol enamels except for the white bits which were sprayed with Tamiya flat white. Most of the decals went on ok but one or two silvered. I brushed on Humbrol Mat Cote to achieve the final finish.

This kit was great to build and apart from my little canopy issue I’m pretty happy with the result. Here are the photos…

Doesn't look like there were any problems!. Really nice work. Were the tail markings decals?, I assumed they were. Did they fit okay or did they need trimming?.

The saying about never having too many Spitfires is just as true about F16s.....that's a cracking build and a lovely scheme!
Best wishes

Very smart with good photos to show it off.
Take the canopy off and dust it out - if you don't, it's going to permanently irritate you.

Like those who have never seen "Star Wars", I've never built an F-16 - but that one looks the biz.

Great looking build and the colour scheme does it proud. Not really into modern jets but this does look good.

Thanks MarkyM607,

The tail markings are decals. The red, white and blue decal is maybe a little large across the tail so I did need to trim it a bit but it was nothing too exhausting. The head is a separate decal that you apply over the top.

It was indeed annoying me so since the original post I have taken off the back part of the canopy and dusted the insides with some sponge on the end of a piece of wire! Worked just fine.

Cheers
