RA-5C Vigilante, Airfix, 1/72

Post by Stupot »

North American RA-5C Vigilante
RVAH-5, NAS Lemoore, 1972, US Navy

Hi everyone,

I’ve finally got round to finishing my Airfix Vigilante. The kit required a lot of filling and sanding around the fuselage but was otherwise fairly easy to build. I tried to improve and add a little detail to the cockpit area and have added some cables to the undercarriage. A Halfords rattle can was used for the white areas and the rest of the model was brush painted with Humbrol enamels and varnishes. The decals are from a SuperScale sheet.

Overall I’m pleased with how this one turned out. Hope you like it too…

I built one of these about 25 years ago. Yours is far better than mine was.

Beautiful work and well worth the effort. I have that kit and now I need to build it.

Nice work, I have the Hasegawa one, should build it as it is one of the longest "sitters" in the stash!

VERY nice.
I have the Hasegawa one in the stash and iirc an Airfix one too. I really must get one of them built for the cold war sig.

All the best.

Very nice, It is a lovely looking plane; I had a hard time building mine, through self inflicted mistakes, but would recommend this kit to anyone.
