Yes, I have some air dry clay to spread over a wooden photo frame. It will be grey and fairly featureless. I'm going to make it after I get the legs fixed. That way, if I can't get them level, I can compensate with the base!Dazzled wrote:Its coming along great Andrew. Are you going to build a base for it?

I really like it, very 50's/60's sci-fi, the sort of thing I would have tried to draw as a nipper
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Lindberg Lunar Lander
More blue on the legs, and the square frames get primed and then painted in blue too.
The solar panels have been primed in white.

The service module, balanced on the legs.
I may try a couple of alternative arrangements before I decide how to go with this.

Solar panels mounted.
The edges have been silvered with a permanent marker.
I'm working on the landing leg base at the moment. It needs to be more rigid.

The lifting platform. No guard rails yet. Think of a very tall fork lift with linear induction engines.
L-shaped struts. Two doofers from the ship kit on top to busy it up. Scratchbuilt platform.

I love the way this model is developing. Keep up the good work Andrew.

Excellent, this is coming on a treat. I like the the idea of using "uneven groundwork" as a dodge to compensate for a wobbly model - good thinking that man.

Re: Lindberg Lunar Lander
The lift rails were made from L-section ABS plastic strip and are held in parallel by polystyrene horizontal spacers. The assembly was primed this afternoon.
and then painted this evening. Here are the lift rails again, now nattily turned out in blue, to match the rest of the frame. There are lots of little bits which will need painting in black, white or metallic colours to contrast from the main structure.
While the rest of the ship looks like this:
There are still lots of things to do on the service module and on the landing leg assembly. I am waiting for spherical beads to arrive from Hong Kong!
