James' RAF and Army Air Corp Helo's

Post by JamesPerrin »

As you know I have a soft spot for anything whirly operated in the UK, though so far I've just focused on the Army and Airforce.

More lovely stuff. Any thoughts on how to deal with an AAC Alouette II - Mach 2? How many complete models do you have and how do you display them at home?

A good question indeed. There is a rare/expensive ExtraTech resin+PE kit that looks very nice. I think I'll be waiting with fingers crossed for another solution. In the meanwhile I've still got the Scout and Chinnook to do. As have the Sycamore but this only operated as Search Rescue (which is another theme I wish to build) with the RAF? There were some evaluation variants though, more research needed.

Yes, that ExtraTech looks great but beyond me in price and skills needed. I am toying with buying and repainting the diecasts you see on eBay instead. The rear boom will be overscale but it's better than nothing.

Didn't the RAF use camo'd Sycamores to drop troops and supplies in Firedog?

Yes a quick search did bring up some camo scheme's, military S&R marks will fit in with the this scheme. I've the CMR kit for that and the Glencoe (Lincoln Int) one for a yellow SR. The Sycamore certainly carried a wide variety of schemes and I hope we see one in plastic eventually.
