Cheers Shaun

The little Harrier is keeping me sane at the moment. I'm just playing around with post shading at the moment.

Thanks Shaun, forgot how much I enjoyed figure painting, used to do a lot of GW stuff at one time. This is something else Sir T is now responsible for!! (after renewing my interest in helicopters with the Military Helicopters GB and now figures as a indirect result of this SB! :ha: :ha: )
Appreciate the idea about Tamiya car crew for Ground Crew. Will look into it asap, cheers. Nice work on the 1/72 Harrier Splash!.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Oh wow, that little 'un looks great Splash. Not an especially cheap offering though at £15.00 but it looks quality. Mind you, 15 quid is about 6 pints in the local (or about 3 pints in some parts of London, so I'm reliably informed) so...mmmm...I'm talking myself round to it as I've seen a number of Harriers on here recently and haven't built one since the '70's.

The GR1 is better value at £10.00 for the starter set with only one choice of markings, it's the same kit minus the long nose and extra wrong sized tail & weapons load.

Seeing the seat fitted in the floor pan makes me think it will not require as much detail as I first thought as most of it will be hidden.

I have started work on the seat using plastic card for the cushions and lead foil from a whisky bottle for the webbing and I have decided to try and tone down the rivets with a coat of liquided filler.

It's not until you try to remove the detail that you can see how much effort Airfix has put into this model.

The seat is very bare as standard. As is often the case though, the cockpit tub and fuselage sides hide quite a bit of the sides of the seat but certainly fitting cushions and some detail on the top box won't go amiss. I'm not certain as to how the sides should look but you'll probably get away with some gizmology using plastic card strips and wire. Good idea with the liquified filler and the rivet detail looks actually pretty good following the treatment.

That sounds like a cunning plan to me that will work, so the seat will get less treatment than I first thought.

A coat of liquid filler and a quick rubdown has worked.

I think your filler mix has worked very well Splash, under paint I reckon the rivets will look nicely subtle. Excellent work with the 72nd scale version BTW, that really looks very good. I've just also had a look at the cockpit view link provided by Malepo - just the ticket I would say.
