1/24 Harrier build.

Post by Stuart »

Well I've decided to get on with my Airfix 1/24 Harrier GR.3. I have to say I'm a bit afraid of this kit but I'm going to give it a go.

It's a long shot I know but does anyone fancy joining me in an 1/24 Harrier SB? It'll be a long term one but I thought it might be fun.

Cheers

Stuart

If it's not too late I have the GR.1/3 and the Sea Harrier FRS.1. Might be able to find space on a bench somewhere. Or the dining room table!!.
(This is your fault as well Sir!!!!) :ha: :ha:

I have the GR3, but I'll not be ready to build it for at least a couple of weeks yet.
I'll be doing mine mainly straight out of the box with very minimal detailing or correcting.

How ever did I miss Sir T's post?

Hi Guys,

That's a surprise, I didn't think anyone would bite, but two!.

I've not started yet either, although I have ordered some replacement intakes. But I can start whenever - I was thinking it'll take a good few months as I have some GB's as well but it doesn't really matter how long it takes as its an SB.

It'd be nice to build along with someone else though. I shall be doing a GR.3 in the 1983 Falklands markings.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers

Mine will be 1 sqdrn, or Falklands Operation Corporate, depends on what markings are in the kit or what I can put together.
I too was thinking maybe a couple of months to put it together. And like you, I have a 'few' GB kits to finish off, and some starting.
No need to blitz it, we can take our jolly time over it.
I'd probably be clear to start by about the 1st of September.

I was hoping to do IV Squadron, although I can't recall what markings are in the kit. I have GB's in October, November and December but as I usually have several models on the go at once I can accommodate an SB!. Anytime suits me although a week or two to charge through the Mil-26 would be nice!.

Well. it looks like we need to agree on a general start date; we dont have to start together, but within a week would be good.
I have committed myself to several GBs, on different forums, coming up, some with multiple builds, and to be a leader in one from 01/09 to 31/10. But I can do my usual and set some aside for finishing later. Only the GBs on this forum lock the thread after the stop date, the others remain open.
So, I'm thinking I'll set my start date as September 1st. Unless you guys have different ideas on a start date?
Unless I have a deadline date I dither too much and get nowt sorted. Its my way, having worked as a motorsport jurno for nearly 30 years, do nowt until 30 mins before deadline - always worked out best. 8-)

Hi Guys!

That's great! The 1st will be fine for me too, although I may start the thread slightly sooner and maybe make the stores up as it might be a slow start for me as I'm GBL for the Classic Jets GB in sept.

Looking forward too it!

Cheers
