marky's Bulldog ***FINISHED***
Re: marky's Bulldog
Umm, it looked as though the trailing edge of the upper wing was lower than the leading edge. Looking at it now it seems a much smaller difference than I first thought. The outer wings slant upwards which makes it difficult to see the angle of the wing. I don't think it's that bad after all.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Any more photo's? I am at the 'putting it all together' stage and would like tips on any pitfalls. Cheers

Re: marky's Bulldog
I'll get some done later today. I don't think there are many pitfalls, I may have mistaken the wing slant for more of a problem than it was. Cleaning up the engine parts before assembly should be done with care as they are very small and fragile. I also made a mess of putting the horizontal tails on, best to check the fit before gluing.

Re: marky's Bulldog
Hi Mark,
Since my previous post I have fitted the top wing. Initially, as you reported, I found a marked difference in 'rigging angle' between the wings, once the wing outer struts were fitted things improved and I have used the rigging to set everything square. I should have some photos done shortly.
I sorted the engine last week, so it is sitting waiting to be fitted.

Re: marky's Bulldog
Here is the current state of play with my Bulldog.
Pics aren't great, sorry. Hopefully this one will give an idea of the wing, it looks quite level now.

Progress so far. This despite the Bulldog taking it's first (and unauthorised first flight, destination: floor), the top wing broke off, the struts breaking at the lower wing join. However the stretchy rigging held everything in place and it's all super glued back together.
And the propeller goes around!!.

Re: marky's Bulldog
One of the unwanted benefits of rigging a model aircraft, same with ships ...

The 'fun' building biplanes...Looks like you're winning though.
Re: marky's Bulldog
I'm getting there. Lost a little mojo when I realised I was building the same kit as Tell, but now the colour on the wheels and spinner are there it's returning. Hopefully get her done this week!!.

Mark,
Don't concern yourself that I am building the same kit as you (yes it should be that way round!). Your progress is giving me incentive and ensuring that I am keeping on track. My ability to find things that stall s build are legion. That said we only have this week to complete.

Mark,
When you have finished, would you take a photo of your Bulldog but with space to one side where another Bulldog could sit.

Re: marky's Bulldog
Hi, thanks TeeLL, I've pressed on and there are green and red bits now!. Markings are going on although they are a little faded, still, if they are as old as the copyright date (1973) I can't blame them!!. I'll see what I can do about the photo, do you want a side view or a three-quarter type view?.
P.S. On a side note, perhaps along the lines of great minds and all that, The Siskin that you did is sitting under my workbench. Looks like it was my other choice!.

Re: marky's Bulldog
Okay matey. I am building this OOB so I am using the faded decals!, but it looks good even so, especially with the green spine and red tail surfaces. Got a bit of the biplane bug so have started my Revell SE.5, part of my 92 Squadron project.TeeELL wrote:The view doesn't really matter I will do something with whichever you can do.

Finished!!. Nice little kit, although a bit old, it still looks neat and I have started another biplane because of it!!.
