Hi Martin,
I'm hoping that I can still join in next month, but work and life may get in the way - I had planned on doing a Hobbyboss 1/72 Mig-15bis in RAF/SEAC camo markings with this back story.
‘’During the negotiations with the British Government and Rolls Royce in regards to the purchase of the new Jet engines, The USSR agreed to sell the UK a quantity of any fighter aircraft built with the engines. Because of this and the improved relations between the UK and USSR, the RAF ended up as the sole western recipient of the new Mig-15bis fighter aircraft to equip its fast jet squadrons and thus became the 1st swept wing fighter in RAF service.
With the outbreak of the Korean war these aircraft were sent to south Korea to assist the USAF Sabres in their fight against the North, giving rise to many Mig-15 vs. Mig-15 engagements. When in theatre the aircraft were marked in the old WII SEAC style camo with the red of the roundels removed to stop the possible confusion with the Red of the communist stars. Unlike their USAF Sabre counterparts, the RAF Mig-15 forces also flew ground attack missions in support of ground forces with some success.’’
Cheers
Stuart
