Avro Shackleton GB ** Completed **

Post by lancfan »

Does anyone fancy taking part in a GB for the Avro Shackleton late this year?
The obvious choice is the Frog/Revell Mark 3 but there are also the Contrail/ Sanger vac forms and the Aeroclub conversion set to have a bash at also.

Never tried making an Avro Shackleton, but if I get one later this year I might join.

Hi, might be in on this, have several Shacks to be built. One is the Anigrand MR.2/AEW.2 and I have two Frog/Modelcraft MR.3's. Have the Focke-Wulf GB, the WWI interest and other stuff early this year would be okay but can squeeze them in anytime. Will vote!.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Definitely a yes from me David :-D its been a couple of years since my last one and I think I've recovered from all of the sanding and filling it took. It would be a FROG/Aeroclub MR.2 from me.

We are one short of the minimum count so come on folks this is a cracking kit and if you don't have one or more in the stash one can be got for a reasonable price in a Revell box.
Sanger make a 1/72 vac form for the mark 1
The Frog kit has also been sold in Chematic, Eastern Express, Modelcraft, Novo & Revell boxes.

Airwaves do flaps and an interior for this kit

And as JamesPerrin has said There are also 1/144 offerings from CMR and WelshModels.

I'm not committing to any GBs this year, time is just too short, but will join in if I can.

(Or make it a general Viermot build and I'll be in with a Fort or a Lanc...)

Well, we have the minimum number provided that everyone stays 'in' but there is plenty of time for more builders to join in so how about it everyone, who has a Shackleton in the stash screaming to be built? It needn't be built OOB- it can be altered, for example the model below will be converted into a mark one aircraft with an airborne lifeboat. the fuselage is held together with elastic bands and the bomb bay doors have been glued down to the fuselage sides, the tail fairing is made of Miliput and the early nose is made from household filler and is being shaped to form the mould for a new vac-formed nose.
