Cyber Hobby 1/200 NA XB-70A Valkyrie

Post by JamesPerrin »

Cyber-Hobby have continued apace with releasing some very interesting kits in small scales. Some of these have appeared as quite expensive pre-assembled models previously. I know many will turn their noses up at the unusual scale, 1/200 is popular among airliner modellers, but considering how big some of these models are even in 1/144 scale these models make for an attractive purchase of the subject in an affordable and compact package. The X-70 Valkyrie being a case in point, who wouldn't want a model of this crazy Mach 3 monster that met such a tragic end.

Three sprues with very finely engraved detail, much better than found on their Vulcan. You get three pairs of wing tip with moulded tabs for the three positions at which they could be set. I'm hoping the fit is good enough to push fit these to allow you to change between them.

Slide mould technology is used to make a single piece forward fuselage, the cockpit module slides into position along grooves from the open end. Two clear parts are close to model it in with the high speed screen raised or lowered.

You can appreciate the considerable size of the a/c when compared to CH's Vulcan in the same scale. (A 2pence piece has the same diameter as a Humbrol paint tinlet)

Looks like a very nice kit, it surely takes advantage of the latest state-of-the-art technology!

If there is a wide enough choice of kits in this scale (besides airliners) I might be tempted to buy a few in order to have a decently sized collection of big planes.

Thanks for sharing :) !

Cheers,
Eugenio
