>> Postimage domain discussion thread << ** resolved **
I noticed some old threads don't show images now - just the word 'Image' now appears as a link and that doesn't bring up the pic anyway!
It seems Postimage have had to change their domain from postimage.org to postimage.cc. They say this is not their fault but this is a real pain as to make our images show again, each one needs to have the link edited to change .org to .cc.
Shades of the Photobucket fiasco but not prompted by greed like that one was.
Sorry to bear bad news.

Re: Postimage domain change so our old pics don't show anymo
Thanks, I guess. This does get old, whatever the reason.
The complete message on their website reads
"postimg.ORG domain is locked by Registry, no prior notice.
While we hope to resolve the issue, we chose postimg.CC as our new home.
Please update codes embedded in your websites. "
IIRC they used this .cc a couple years ago and people were getting all sorts of warnings from security software.

Re: >> Postimage domain discussion thread <<
It appears they want to return to the org at some point, so this may be a temporary setback, but that remains to be seen.
One thing is for sure, this wont help stem the tide of forum die-off. :(

Re: >> Postimage domain discussion thread <<
Coming from the slide rule days, I'm too computer dumb to understand it all. With the PB debacle and everything else, I feel like I want to wipe out every post I ever made, and start over again.
But, I'm sure something else would happen, just because I have new posts to mess up.

Re: >> Postimage domain discussion thread <<
This could be a true temporary registration glitch.
Give it a couple-three business days to see if it all sorts on its own.
We cannot say what will happen to any new images you place on PostImage.CC if they are able to revert to PostImage.ORG.
If you post new images, we'd suggest some volume control and keep track of them so you know what you might have to unfix later.

Thank you for this, Mr Ratz. I replaced PB with Post Image and very much appreciate your advice. I was starting to panic a bit and it sounds like patience is a virtue in this situation.

Re: >> Postimage domain discussion thread <<
Saturday.
The original post on PostImage.ORG, explaining the move to PostImage.CC, no longer exists.
However, it also appears that PostImage.ORG has now become PostImages.ORG.
Whether the new site belongs to the same old site or not is unknown.
Their new website, PostImages.ORG has no explanation whatsoever, or didn't 10 minutes ago.
That still doesn't fix the problem with existing images on what used to be PostImage.ORG only showing as "Image and a box".
I tried "hacking" a few existing images in threads here to no avail, I cannot get previously displayed images to show.
A PostImage user should try to sign on to that service now and determine if;
-- do older images still exist ?
-- is there a difference in naming or reference ?

Re: >> Postimage domain discussion thread <<
John,
Probably a pipedream but what we need is a 'Find and Replace' type tool like the ones in MS-Word, etc. but that would go through ALL our pages and edit them.
It wouldn't help in a situation like the PB one but would work fine for the current PostImage one.

Re: >> Postimage domain discussion thread <<
Not necessarily. We have not established that changing "org" to "cc" results in a valid link. I made a couple efforts and failed.dwomby wrote:John,

I have noted in ChrisM's Fairmile build, in a post about 722pm on the 11th, the images are showing and have a .CC address, so her posting to PI and then using their supplied code worked, but we don't know if the older ones are even available.

Odd. I only changed one image to .cc but it worked fine.
All-in-all a damned pain in the proverbial.

Re: >> Postimage domain discussion thread <<
And I went back and tried again and it did work, so obviously I fat fingered something.
SO, to all:
-- your old "PostImage.ORG" images all exist on "PostImage.CC" and only the change from ORG -> CC is needed to make them show.
-- actually the code you see in your post will be s--.postimg.org
-- ignore my remarks about "PostImages
Regrettably we do not have that scripting capability at this time. I am really hoping they figure out how to become themselves again.

Re: >> Postimage domain discussion thread <<
Jeff,
In your post, go into EDIT mode.
You'll have a line looking something like this for each image: (I changed ][ to }{ and made .org bold)
{url=https://postimages.org/}{img}https://s9.postimg.org/nmdgyd4i7/IMGP8679.jpg{/img}{/url}
Just change .org to .cc, as shown, in each and save.
