Re: Miguelito's Hawker Tempest Mk V - August 23 - IN PROGESS
Unfortunately, after nearly 23.5 hours, I'm going to have to call this one a FAILURE.
I pulled the masking off with little problems. The masks worked fine, and I suppose the painting was acceptable. The grey wasn't blue enough, and the green wasn't green enough...
There was one spot, just behind the cockpit that needed to be touched up...and then it happened...
Not sure what happened, I was painting acrylic onto acrylic, on an acrylic primer. Obviously, the brush had something on it, that the paint didn't like. One small touch and everything started peeling off. A real mess. This one is done for the Blitzbau.
So it's official...my first Blitzbau ends in flames...
...at 7:57pm CT.
I''ll finish the model, and this will give me a chance to fix the grey paint color, but this one is done...now let me check the stash for one more possible entry...
It was fun (?) while it lasted.

You gave it a good hard go, no shame in that. It still looks pretty respectable .

My sympathies, it was going so well too.
I know how you feel, me having melted the top of a tank.
Dig another out an have another go, there's still a week left.

Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Thanks to all for the words of encouragement. I'll finish this in my workbench.
I'm going to go thru the stash and see if I can find another potential Blitzbau subject.
Hopefully, more to follow.
