Karl's konserved 'Konnie' **DNF**
A couple of days before I get started, and I still haven't decided.....
These last couple of weeks I've been moving my 'cave' from our old 'box-room', into the much bigger spare bedroom, and it's been a nightmare. You don't realise how much 'stuff' you've collected until you try to move it all.
It'll be worth it for the extra space, but did you ever start something, then wish you'd left well alone...?
Today and tomorrow (in between the usual day-to day chores) I'm wiring up the spray booth, and sorting the vent-hose - in the hope of being able to put paint on plastic by the weekend.
Until the reminder message, I hadn't even thought about which kit to do for this GB, so had the 5 candidates on the bench last night, and I'm still not decided.
These are the prospective victims:
Unless someone else starts an Airfix DC3 by the weekend, I'll probably do that in the Dan-Air boxart markings - Though I've also been looking forward to varying degrees, to doing all the others.
The Super-Connie as Lufthansa D-ALIN (the decal sheet also covers D-ALID, D-ALEM, D-ALEP, and a couple of TWA machines) - The Vanguard in BEA livery - A Britannia 737 - and 727 in Alitalia colours (all from the kit decals)
Super-Connie is probably second favourite for the GB, mainly because the other 3 could do with a rescribe.
Anyway..
Fingers crossed for a weekend start - and I'll amend the thread title when I've made a decision.

Re: In a quandary
The "Connie" - one of the most beautiful aircraft ever ... hint, hint ...
Although I'm not a fan of the tip tanks ...

Re: In a quandary
Well, I have to say that the ............Connie would be my first choice.
I agree with John, without the wingtip tanks.
Second would be the Vanguard.

Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Re: In a quandary
Given the time limited scope of GBs, the amount of fight the kit is expected to put up might be a consideration. I know the Dak to be quite docile, but can't say anything about the others.
Aside from that, Dak of Connie.

Re: In a quandary
Looks like it's the Connie or the Dak then.....
I may well try to do both - will retitle this thread for the Connie, and start that first, then in a few days, if I'm still feeling keen, will start a second thread for the Dak....
Sprue shots for the Connie should be here some time tomorrow

Connie for sure.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Re: Karl's konserved 'Konnie'
Couple of quick sprue shots while I'm here to edit the thread title.....
Fuselage, wings and transparencies.
There are side windows, cockpit, and a transparent nose piece.
Everything else, plus decals
I'm going to do the Lufthansa scheme - D-ALIN, which is on display at the Air Museum near Hermeskeil (about 25-30 miles from the Luxembourg border) Hence the thread title...
The aircraft used by German chancellor Adenauer for a state visit to Moscow to secure the release of remaining German POWs.
I'll be building it pretty much as it stands at Hermeskeil (so, no wingtip tanks )
And I'm thinking of making a baseboard to match it's parking spot at the museum - though that probably won't get done within the time limit, it'll be added later.

Re: Karl's konserved 'Konnie'
Glad you picked the Connie as it's one of the all time classic prop airliners.
Enjoyment over accuracy. That's my motto

Very sorry chaps, but there's absolutely no way I'm gonna get this anywhere near finished by the deadline.
Just far too much other stuff has been eating my spare time lately
