Re: "Hands Off" - the R-4B Hoverfly
And today ....
The windows are clean-clean, the floor/etc has been final fit and glued in to one side, a hole drilled in the bottom of the fuselage, and a plastic tube glued in to hold the clear acrylic rod. It should be balanced, I have it aligned with the rotor shaft.
Tomorrow I will attempt to fake an engine shroud from card and install that, then I think some interior green-ish for the engine compartment and it is ready to seal up.

Yeah, except now, having opened the panels, I need a backstory for why a telephone pole is in the engine compartment ...

Simples! It's where the ground crew insert the hand-held thing for winding up the rotorsjRatz wrote:Yeah, except now, having opened the panels, I need a backstory for why a telephone pole is in the engine compartment ...
Best wishes

Re: "Hands Off" - the R-4B Hoverfly
iggie, that's too much
OTOH, I didn't pay attention to what I really needed for the engine and after futzing around decided I could do it in 10 minutes at home with my scrap plastic stash rather than blow a whole night trying it with an inadequate card stock. There's a few other "I didn't plan this very well" issues also.
So, I simply stopped work and went on to just cleaning parts to be ready when I do get home -- that'll make for a mad dash but unfortunately I have a bunch of other work with me on holiday and we'll be traveling for a few days so I doubt the kit will come out until mid-week when we get home.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Yes, Splash, thank you. Looked at all the photos and refs, then sent a query about possible color & markings.
They were extremely friendly and helpful but unable to provide the info I was seeking on this specific machine.
BTW, back home and ready to restart ...

Re: "Hands Off" - the R-4B Hoverfly
Fuselage closed up, seams sorted, and I have started adding various bits to the exterior so I can slop paint all over them.
Note the tail "boom" assembly, which MPM has rendered as lumps of plastic pole, rather than tubing. It took about an hour with the finest file I have to clean one half, I'll go after the other tomorrow. I'm not sure you can see the difference in the picture, but I can.
