RAF 100 in 2018. *** GB Forum is Open ***
I know this is a bit early to start this chat - But I've thought for a while that we really should mark the 100th birthday of the RAF next year with a decent sized GB? It is the worlds oldest airforce after all.
What are you thoughts? We could try and get builds sorted from every decade?

Yep! Excellent idea Stuart, I'm in!
What about a ten month GB, one decade per month?

I'd be up for this. Be a good excuse to get my 100 Years of RAF Fighters project re-started.....

So there will be some interest then - what do we think about how the build will be structured? Would it just be a general build of any RAF types, or something more structured to cover the whole 100 years?

Re: RAF 100 in 2018.
I really like the idea of covering all 100 years, Stuart, but for myself, I only model 1946 to 1991 (my personal definition of Cold War). I'm sure we can come up with enough players to cover at least one plane per decade of the 100 years. Probably more! We managed something similar for every mark of Spitfire last year.

Re: RAF 100 in 2018.
I think we can figure out an extended GB that would accommodate those might be so inclined to build more than one model. That should enable us to cover each decade or each major period, etc.
Now, are we modeling the RAF or just their airplanes ?
Plenty of time to chew on this ....

Re: RAF 100 in 2018.
I favour a general all RAF theme to encompass the non-wingy builders
Vehicles
Figures
Boats
AFVs
even buildings
Actually; if we start this in June we could finish on April 1st next year [=10 months]
[just thinking]
another silly thought; hows about it being 10 x 1 month builds, so the builder has to build one something every 4 weeks
no cramming of doing ten in the last week tho

Re: RAF 100 in 2018.
I favour the 10 month programme (well I would do wouldn't I as I suggested it ), but I'm not sure that we would have enough people to fulfil GB rules if it was a regimented 10 x one month affair; I suspect real life would get in the way, and those (like me) who may only turn out one build a month in the best of times would be restricted to their subject matter for too long.
That said, as long as T'management agree, how about the 10 months being split into decades, and as many participants as possible build something from that decade. We could make it a little more rigid by saying that out of (say) 20 participants in the overall GB, at least 5 must build something in/from each decade
