Me262-2a “Sturmvogel”
Hi everyone!
Here is my Airfix Me262. I found this a fairly basic kit but had fun adding some extra detail. Most of my efforts went into the cockpit but I made up some other bits and pieces for the undercarriage and fuselage too. I also tried to alter the nose cone so that it looked a little less pointed and I worked to improve the shape of the gun ports. The model was painted with humbrol enamels using the kits suggested colours in accordance (more or less) with the paint guide. I added the swastika’s and replaced the kits underwing crosses (which I managed to wreck by being too impatient!) with some new ones that matched.
Thanks for looking!
Stu

That's a really nice result from a basic kit. Well done.

It just goes to show what a modeler with some skills can do with these older kits. That's a beautiful bird.

Well done for persevering with it. Great result.
I was so dismayed with its shape when I made it in the '70s, that I went out and bought the Revell 262. Which I was happy with.

Excellent build of an old kit that's too tired to even be called venerable!
The main spoiler in profile is the canopy which is visibly wrong. Apart from that, it certainly looks like an Me 262, thank to the skilful build and painting. Really good job against heavy odds!

Yes indeed what an excellent job you have made of 'ye olde' kit Stu, one that I personally find as not being one of Airfix's best efforts.
