Error in SAMI?

Post by CementNotGlue »

Hi all

Readers to the "just Landed" column might think the Revell release of Spitfire Vb in 1/72 is a "new tooling". I actually e-mailed Germany to clarify and they tell me it is a re-release.

I'm still waiting for a thank-you email from David Francis for forwarding Revell's reply.

If anybody would like to check the magazine, I'd be grateful - I've not been well.

A re-release? On super-hobby, there are shots of the "re-tooled new-tool" Spit IIa, now sold as Vb:
https://www.super-hobby.de/products/Sup ... 49341.html;
They didn´t had to change a lot, to go from IIa to Vb.
They kept the ugly, far too thick framed canopy from the IIa :sad:
IMHO, this kit is a bit disappointing for a new tooling.
But, generally, people have high expectations, when it comes to Spitfire kits, anyway.
But there´s so much info out there about Spitties, so it shouldn´t be too difficult for Revell (or others),
to bring out decent stuff.
Waiting for the day, when wars for territory will be something to be read about in history books only.

Playing Tetris taught me: If I clean up too much, my kits disappear.....8-(

In my eyes, it´s a new tool, but maybe Revell sees it differently?
Since it´s not a re-release of the IIa from 2016, because some things had got to be changed (diff. armament, f.e.),
it´s "new" in this form, but, no use arguing about that
