Lancfan's BBMF Dakota- finished.

From 1 April 1918, to present, celebrating anything RAF -- land, sea, air, person -- any kit, any scale, not whiffs. This GB incorporates the 617 Sqn/Opn Chastise 75th GB. Originally a 3 month GB, it is now super-extended through the rest of 2018. Part started kits will also be allowed to join.

Very nice indeed, David, the model has really come to life now with the decals on. Excellent work.

I usually use Revell Aqua clear varnishes but for this model (and the Sea Furies and firefly I have just built) I have tried Windsor & Newton Galeria Acrylic Satin Varnish, it costs about £8.00 for a 250 ml tub, it is available in gloss and matt also- it is clear, thin and brushes on beautifully. It will last for ages.

I've read and heard good things about W&N Galeria varnishes for modelling use. We have a decent art shop in Pontefract (surprisingly, these days most of the town seems to consist of fast food places, bookies, bargain shops and vaping emporiums with the odd pub thrown in for good measure!!) and I intend to pay them a visit - apart from trying this varnish I really must buy some decent new paint brushes!

I've been using W&N Varnishes for a couple of years now; the only recommendation I would make is to let the varnished subject sit in the airing cupboard for at least 12 hours to 'bake' the varnish, otherwise it tends to stay a little tacky for ages.....
Best wishes

A useful bit of info to bear in mind, Jim, thanks for that.

Thanks everyone, apart from the decals and various aerials and lights copied from pictures of the full size aeroplane this is OOB. Apart from the simple interior (which cannot be seen once built) this model looks very like the NT Airfix model, it has a low parts count and is no more difficult to build than a 1/72 scale spitfire or P-51, it is also a lot cheaper than the airfix product and is an ideal first large model.
