FORUM UPGRADE 12:00 - 00:00 GMT 22nd April 2021

Well it's time that we finally have to bite the bullet and upgrade the forum to the latest version of phpBB (3.3). We have been using an old version for far too long as we were all rather fond of its look and feel. As we look after ourselves we have been lucky and not to put up with necessary changes and features forced upon us but now the old version of the underlying PHP software the forum uses is being removed from the servers. Unfortunately with the upgrade we will no longer be able to use the Macinscott theme and so the forum will have a new look as well as new features. The forum should be a little more responsive with the upgrade and in the days following there will be further improvements.

A lot of work has already been done to test a successful upgrade but the process does take time. The forum will be locked but readable from 12:00 GMT (13:00 BST) of Thursday 22nd April, at some point in the evening it will be unavailable for a short period before coming back online by 00:00 GMT (01:00 BST) at the latest.

This sounds like an interesting development in the life of the forum and fingers crossed it goes off without a hitch.

If it's like some other forums now are we hopefully will get a load if new shiny features and it'll be good happy fun. if it's like some became after a transition it will be "fun" in a very frustrating way

I am sure a couple of you have been busy for a while working this through. (I was a whlle back with another one)
