Hello all,
this is a kit consisting of 3D printed (Hull) and resin cast (tracks) parts.
"Leichtkampfwagen" translates to "light fighting vehicle". It was only built as prototypes, Sweden acquired some after WWI. So as it is displayed here in action with a German WWI soldier, it is a kind of "what-if".
Thanks for looking
KM

I like to carve old kits into something roughly aircraft/tank shaped...

Beautifully done! The finish is neat. nuanced, and very effective! Can you give us a little tutorial on your painting techniques?

Wow! Now that really is something you don't see often. Very nicely done KM.
Amazingly the Swedes still have one in working order. They clearly never throw anything away!

The past, present, and future walked into a bar. It was tense.

But please consider that bad photography makes models look more beautiful, but it's the way I like it. (And also I can't do better... )
I will soon summarize how I painted the tank.
Maybe it's the secret how they leaned to build cars that last forever and are robust like tanks (Talking about 80's Volvos and Saabs here, not Chinese EVs with a Swedish brand sticker ...)
Interesting info, even though I did some research while building, I did not come across that one of these is still running in Sweden. Probably because my research focused on German WWI camo colours..

Spot on, KM, that is an excellent build of something that is nicely different.

Here is a summary of the painting process on this one:Tim Reynaga wrote: ↑March 15th, 2024, 7:17 pm Beautifully done! The finish is neat. nuanced, and very effective! Can you give us a little tutorial on your painting techniques?
After priming, I applied the camo with Ammo Mig Acrylic colours using an airbrush and BluTak as masking. The lines between the colours were then added by brush. Next I painted the tracks with a mix of rust, black and steel (rust most, steel fewest). Then the tracks and lower side parts received a wash with "Kursk earth" wash (any other will do...) and also with the same wash that I applied to the base, to tie it together and have it look "logical", that the dirt from the ground is also on the tank and not a completely different one.. :-) This is followed by applying an overall filter of Ammo Mig Filter for german 3 colour and afterwards a pin wash with Ammo Mig Wash for german 3 tone camo. (I'm using items from a paint set, I'm not working at Mig ). Areas where the wash does not stick or not pronounce them enough (e.g. the door hinges) will then be pronounced with a pencil. Deep shadows (e.g. vision ports) can be treated with a pure black wash. And then comes my favourite step: Good old 90's / early 2000's drybrushing with lightened base (ochre in this case) colour. I like how this technique emphasizes the geometric silouette of the vehicle and how it picks out details. I apply more drybrushing on the upper part of the vehicle and less on the lower part. Decals were then added and a final layer of Revell 02 Enamel matt applied overall.
I hope I could explain a little how I painted it, I do not have in progress pics, I'm sorry. If you have any questions or I failed to decribe a step in an understandable way, just ask
KM
