Re: OT's Impala Mk1 - Friday 29th August ** under way **
2:30 and she is pretty much assembled. Just a bit of filler needed at the wing to fuselage join.
I still need to fit the air brake & close up the U\C bays & as this one will be in flight, fit the stand.
Will take a break now whilst the cement dries.

Re: OT's Impala Mk1 - Friday 29th August ** under way **
Thanks guys. I have had loads of issues with the canopy fit, the small forward section is too low.
I have tried to raise it as best I can but I don't have time to sort it properly. So this is where I am at 5pm.
As you can see, between fitting & re-fitting the canopy I have managed to get the Pilots installed (minus legs ) & joy sticks etc.
Since this was taken I have fitted the canopy as best I can & she is awaiting primer. I will do that now then take a break to make dinner.
I am going for the girly Blitzbau of two 12 hour sessions. Swambo is working a 12 hour shift today & will expect some company after that. I will aim to finish this session of the build about 8pm. Bye for now.

Probably to late now but I would tried to leave the canopy open. It opens to the side, correct?
All and all, nice going.

I didn't think of that in the heat of battle with the canopy. What a plonker.jssel wrote:Probably to late now but I would tried to leave the canopy open. It opens to the side, correct?
Anyway she is now primed & first coat of silver on:
I am really chuffed with the colour, looks like a pretty good match for the real thing.
This is where I am at right now at 7pm. I may get another coat on before 8pm but that is where I am bringing this to a halt for today. Not sure what time tomorrow, depends what plans have been made for me.
Bye for now & thanks for watching.

Re: OT's Impala Mk1 - Round 2 ** under way **
OK. Starting round 2 at 10:30am. Had a little sleep in, sorry.
This is where I got up to yesterday.
In the cold light of day there are a few issues to sort with the paintwork.
This seam line needs sorting even though it is the dividing line between paint colours.
This area on the tail needs a touch up too.
Once those are sorted I can mask off the areas that need other colour & start decaling.

Re: OT's Impala Mk1 - Round 2 ** under way **
I sorted out those problems. Masked off the tanks to paint & was just starting to mask the tail when I noticed that the paint was lifting off with the tape.
So I have applied a coat of future and will leave that to dry whilst I put some pants on.
Naked Blitzing, its the future.
This is where I am at:
Back soon as.
