Tim's Frogeye Sprite **Finished **

Post by TimJ »

For my second Bank Holiday Blitz I'll be building an Airfix Austin Healey Sprite Mk1.

Image

Here's one I built a few years ago.

This one will have the front bumper fitted and the hood up for a bit of variety. I just need to decide on a colour.

Nice choice of kit, it brings back memories of my youth when the Sprit's were a common sight.

They do suit the lighter colours like the sky blue and light yellow.

Dai, there was no colour called British Racing Green for the Mark One AH Sprite.
The BMC colours used for this car were-
Cherry Red RD.04
Dark Green GN.12
Iris Blue BU.12
Leaf Green GN15
Old english White WT.03
Primrose Yellow YL.03
Speedwell Blue BU.01
Whitehall Beige BG.04

Either green will give you less painting problems. If it was mine I'd be doing it orangey/red like a friend's one.
I'll be watching how you get on as I have one of these to build sometime.
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

The bodyshell has had a coat of primer, the rear suspension fitted and the wheels painted. The tyres will need some touching up.

Colour wise I've decided to go with dark green with a light green interior.

Thanks for the link Splash. I may have to change my interior shades a little.

I've made a start painting the interior.

The body and the inner rear end of the chassis have had a coat of green.
