Chip's IAF Sambad***Finished***
I am going to do an Airfix Super Mystere B.2 in IAF colours.
The Heyl Ha'Avir bought 36 Super Mystere B2s from France in 1958. The Israeli pilots were fond of the aircraft and nicknamed it "Sambad", after its initials ("SMBD"), and served in the ground attack role in the 1967 Six-Day War.

Nice choice!!!
I do like these - they are a really nice Aircraft and not one you see very often.
Cheers

Starting off with the prelim pics of the parts:
Instruction sheet:
and Decals:
You get 4 schemes, 2 for French aircraft and 2 Israeli (Silver and camo options for both) I will be doing an Israeli war machine similar to this:

This is one of those classic Airfix kits that I never got around to building in my youth. These kits often crop up at shows and IIRC don't fetch silly money. IMHO it's a handsome aircraft is the Super Mystere.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Thanks for the link Jeff, it certainly seems to go together well.jssel wrote:That is a good kit. I blitzed it last February.

I have somehow managed to lose/delete some of my first set of progress pics, but I basically started by assembling the cockpit and wings together, fitted the cockpit and splashed a bit of paint around:
The white disk is my way of overcoming the problem of seeing through to the front of the cockpit:
Once painted black it should look better.

Stuff like that is helpful. My old wellington boots have "L" and "R" stamped inside them. Saves a lot of hassle I can tell youMarkyM607 wrote:At least it's obvious which side is the front!!.

Re: Chip's IAF Sambad
My disk idea seems to have worked out OK:
As well as joining the fuselage together I have also assembled the wings and painted up the pilot:
Coming together quite nicely at the moment, I can see why Jeff chose it as a Blitz candidate.

Re: Chip's IAF Sambad
Looks very nice - I do like simple jet kits, they're a lot of fun to build.
The pilot looks good.
