Anti Blitz Blitz **Finished**
Ok, can't let another blitz go by without participating. Besides, my output this year has sucked so let's see if we can get something done.
This is the Zvezda 1/72nd British Bofors 40mm Mk 2 AA gun and crew. As typical for this series it is snap together including the decent figures though I will be glueing mine for strength. It can be used with their wargame so comes with a flag and card for movement, etc.
Start time is 11:20 PM Mountain Time and the plan is to not only build the gun but also the crew and add some details to the base. Course, if the GF isn't busy Saturday, this may end up with just the gun. A guy has got to have priorities after all.

Re: Anti Blitz Blitz
Well the gun build didn't take too long, just over an hour. Biggest issue is the soft plastic makes it a bit harder to clean up the parts and there are many small parts for these fat fingers to try and deal with but so far so good.

Re: Anti Blitz Blitz
A couple of suitable lousy pictures for this time of night and the first coat of paint is on.
Testors Flat Earth for the base (from the rattle can).
And some Tamiya British Green (also the rattle can) for the gun.
Will give the paint a chance to dry while I sleep and then will do some detail painting of the gun, build the figures and paint them and see how things sit.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Very cool looking kit Philip. Never seen one of these done before so will watch with interest. I have often seen these advertised at ridiculously low prices & fancy giving them a punt.
Looking forward to seeing this one complete.

Hey Philip. Now that is a different kind of blitz.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Re: Anti Blitz Blitz
Well, actually had a good nights sleep which is something I haven't had for a while so a late start.
Breakfast is an apple and cinnamon muffin. Tasty.
I had only pushed the wheels on so I could remove them to ease painting. Guess the green paint is a bit stronger than the plastic as I broke the axle trying to get the first wheel off. Perfect start for the continuation. Guess will see if I can get it back on with a little super glue.
Got to work on the figures so will show some progress in a bit.

The wheel came off! Standard blitz mishap.
Hope the figures turn out ok. Love the muffin.

Re: Anti Blitz Blitz
Ok, to the workbench.
Here is today's start time and showing the damage mentioned earlier.
Nice clean break so got to crack open the thick superglue and do the repair. Now me and CA usually don't see eye to eye but today it cooperated and the repair was done fast.
Figures are 4 parts with pretty good detail on the faces, visible fingers, etc. Went together fairly quickly with a little Weld On to help fill some seams. In the pic they have had a coat of flesh to the faces and hands. Will get a wash after uniforms are sorted and should look fine.
I also wasn't too happy with my British Green, way too shiny and dark. So grabbed a bottle of Tamiya Dark Green and gave it a once over. Not trying to cover every part but get the most and the previous green can fill the shadows.
Also used some Verlinden Black Grey on the tires. Not too visible in the pic but it gives a nice scale effect. Added a few other colors to the base to break it up before the static grass.
So, just over an hours worth of work so far today added to the hour and a half last night and she is looking pretty good. Giving it some drying time and will start some laundry and look up the uniform colors.

Re: Anti Blitz Blitz
Ok, laundry is running so back to start the uniforms.
Verlinden British Uniform for the main coat. Will give that a little time to dry then do the webbing. Finish with boots and helmets.
Once they all dry can glue them down and add a little weathering to the gun. Still have the static grass to add. Maybe will do that now.
