More work done on individual components

Here is the flight deck

Image

Image

This is the roof of the hanger deck. The yellow squares are the lights. This piece is the only part without any complex angles

Image

This next piece is the UPPER spine. Its a thin delicate piece to fold but surprisingly strong once assembled

Image

Image

Next up are the sides of the main body of the ship where the majority of the guns are housed

Image

It was real hard for me to envision how to fold this part before it was cut out. Once it was cut out it became apparent how it went.

Thanks for looking

Didn't realise that it came with a flight deck...I think that makes a world of difference to these BSG models....

yeah, if you look at the pictures the Berzerk has only one flight deck. Unlike the Galactica and Pegasus style Battlestars who has their flight decks flanking the ship on the outside. the Berzerk has her single flight deck tucked up under her belly in the center of the ship. Easier to protect in my opinion

Had to look twice to be sure (I think) that those gun turrets are not actually 3D...what a great illusion of depth!

It's looking good Dirk.

What type of glue are you using?

I use Elmer's Yellow wood glue. Less moisture then the regular white glue and it drys clear ;-)

Can't wait...but guess I will have to...

Have a look at this post at PM.com...might be right up your experimental alley as a slightly different way to display your models...those turrets in 3D will shine using this method...

More of the finished head of the Berzerk

Image

Image

Time to rework the gun pod of the Berzerk. What I'm doing is to make a second skin where I will be able to place actual guns in order to make a more 3D model. In order to make this work I had to print another copy of the model, cut it out and die-sect the part and connect it in the middle. Here are the photos but to understand what I'm doing check out my youtube video

Image

Image

Image

I made the appropriate cuts in the second skin to house the guns

Image

Image

Image

This is the original part. As you can see I had to make large holes to accommodate the new second skin

Image

Image

Here you can get an idea how the second skin will fit into the old

Image

The parts mated together
