I have started on the tail, it's quite complex with lots of curves and I will have to wait for the centre tunnel to set befor I attempt to fold over the skin.

I have to attend a 60th birthday party tonight so no more work on it tonight. The good news is it's a surprise party for an Aircrewman who I used to surve with, so there will be lots of old friends there and as a bonus it's being held in the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum underneath Concord.

Tha party is over so back to work.

Although the rotor head is made up of a lot of parts they all simply get layered on top of each other, so once the parts were cut out it only took 10 minutes to assemble.

I have started on the tail and it's now joined onto the body, the top and tail end still need closing up and the top and bottom fins added then it will be the hard bit of assembling the fenstron tail rotor.

As you can see I'm putting off the fenstron tail rotor as long as I can :-D

I have found a new trick, on the tail you will see dark red lines, this is water colour paint, when it dries I will blend it in using just a brush and plain water.

Due to family commitments and a planned holiday I only have until Friday to finish this build so I'm stopping the ship build and will focus on this build.

I know what you mean James, this has been a real pleasure to build as it has not fought me at any time. Even the bits like the complex engine housings and cockpit nose that I thought would be an issue have been a pleasure.

I'm quite surprised when I did a Google search to find images of the finished model, I could not find any  .

Was it a case of it looking too hard to build so people were put off, if that's the case its a shame as it really is a nice kit.

Once again this kit has surprised me with it's ease of assembly and the fenstron is finished.

I have made one change from the plans. The wheels are supposed to be made from layers of discs but my wife came up with a better plan, she is a crafter and enjoys making cards and said why don't I make the tyres from a roll of paper using her quilling tool, I thought sounds a cunning plan.

The quilling tool is just a pencil size handle with a metal rod the has a thin slit cut into the top, you slot a strip of quilling paper in the slot and rotate the handle until the roll of paper is the right size, you glue the end and slide it off the tool. I then just stuck the printed wheels on either side and ha presto four wheels in 10 minutes.

Unfortunately I read "quilting" tool and have spent the last half hour badgering SWMBO to borrow hers; now I have to go apologize.

Sorry I should have taken photos so here they are, note quilling paper comes in different widths and colours, I have used a light colour in the photo just to show what it looks like.
