With the fuselage assembled there were a couple of modifications to make to represent WR872, this aircraft was used for parachute trials so the radar bucket was replaced by (I think) a paratroop hatch. The streamlined tail to the fuselage was replaced with a blunt observation turret, for this I cut down an original tooling Airfix Lancaster mid-upper glazing. The exact details of these two features are not clear from any picture I have found so there was some guesswork here.

The wings were fitted and the tail unit was then assembled, de-rivetted and glued in place, all that now remains is to attach the engines and cockpit canopy and the model can be painted.

Time to start painting beginning with the white-

the grey parts came next-

followed by the blue bits-
Image

the black sections finally going down to finish the basic colour scheme.
The model is now ready for decals, varnish and final assembly.
Image

This is how it looked after the varnish and decals went on.
Image

Assembly has now begun with the undercarriage legs in place, the wheels and propellers are now being painted.

Thanks iggie, Daren, David, Mark, James, Nigel, O_T. have been away on my Spitfire bench for the last few days but I am now back at A.v.Roe's to finish this model. The propellers are now all done and ready to be fitted and the tyres on the wheels are drying before assembly. pictures TF.

Excellent! A striking and different scheme for the Shack, nicely executed.
