Revell / Italeri 1/72 Ju87B-2

Post by Martin R »

Hi chaps,

I started this little kit during the YCNHTM Spitfires GB (go figure!) and it's taken me until now to finish it in the markings of a BoB machine (one of my modelling themes this year was supposed to be BoB; I've only finished one kit so far!)

Anyway, it's straight out of the box, fit was in general pretty good, although there was a degree of mould shift present that were a pain to clean up on the smaller bits (and everything on this Stuka appeared to be a 'smaller bit'). Decals for a BoB machine from Almark; a very clean J9+BL of 9./StG 1.

Impressive Stuka Martin
Can I ask as to what paints/shades you used, in particular the topside camo splinter, the contrast between the
two greens looks just right.

Thanks

Thanks Vincent,

Topsides brush painted with Xtracrylix: RLM70 Schwartzgrun and - *ahem* - RAF dark green. Perhaps too much contrast, but you can actually see 2 different shades . . . . I was pleased how it came out.

Bottom: Revell Aqua Hellblau (65, I think).

Bombs: IJN green

Its a very nice kit and you've fashioned a great finish from it Martin, I'll echo the previous comments about the topside greens as they do look spot-on

Nice job Martin, I'll echo what has been said above, it does look very much "right", just like the ones that got shot down in the movie. :)

I built one of those a couple of years ago. It goes together very well. The only issue I had with it is the fact that the flap actuators are represented by a triangle shaped piece of plastic. In reality, they were angled metal rods.

Oh there are many issues with it, Eric. That may just be one of the most obvious, but how about the rear side of the radiator matrix being situated at the rear end of the cooling flaps? Or did I just misposition it? :-D

That looks terrific, Martin. Almark? Now that's a name I haven't heard in years.

Didn't even notice that.

The markings aren't completely right either. I used the kit markings for 2/StG 2 - which features the little terrier on a red disk. The decals are wrong as the terrier should be facing forward on both sides of the fuselage. The decals have him pointing towards the tail on one side.

David,

Continuous decal film? Now there's a thing; have to trim close. However, they bed down a treat!
