Lovely jubbly and it's nice to see a diesel. I can remember Deltics passing my parent's house. What a sound!

Cheers Shaun

The Deltic is a nice kit with loads of detail for its age, the detail has really come out with a oil colour wash. Unfortunately the decals are quite yellowed with age so I will have to tape the to the window for the next week and hope for sunshine.

The flash has made the wash stand out more than it does in daylight :???:

That really does look the part! Hopefully you'll get enough sunlight to bleach the decals.

It only comes with the "Deltic" logo one for each side.

There are replacements Splash but a sheet will cost about as much as the loco did - but I do like the black surround to the cream lining and whiskers on the decals - I shall probably get some for mine one day.

They do look good but it would mean removing all the kits raised detail and starting from scratch again, I do have another of the Kitmaster original Deltic's but I was thinking of converting that to a later green version. It would involve making new noses but I think it would be possible.

...and losing a scale 2 feet off of the body length if I'm not mistaken. Quite a project but you have to love a green Deltic (I have the Bachmann one on my layout). 8-)

Edit - got that wrong - you'd actually need to add 3' 6" to the length and slightly bigger wheels - 3' 9" diameter against the 3' 7" of the prototype.

I might have to re-think that cunning plan as adding a half inch to the kit might be too much of a challenge depending where they added the extension.

Which blue did you end up using?

I finished up using Revell Aqua Color "light blue" lightened with Citadal "scull white" the paints mixed well with no problems.

You're doing a good job
I avoid mixing paints - I can never get an exact match if I need to touch up (or build another) later

I'm normally the same, so this time I have mixed a full tamiya paint pot full, just in case I need it again.

I have restored one of the French coaches, it had a loose weight crashing about inside so I had to cut open the roof to fix the problem, normally this would not be a problem but the roof on these coaches is corrugated so you can't just fill and sand.

I finished up with two noticeable joins that stood out like the dogs dangling bits when painted silver, so I have cheated and added a strip of plastic over the joins to make it look like guttering, what do you think?

The Deltic is coming along, I have gone around the cream detail with a black marker pen.

Excellent work Splash. Good dodge with the coach roof, your secret is safe with me, no-one will be any the wiser!
