Andrew's Minor Victory **Finished**

Post by AndrewR »

I'm building a blister packed version of the small scale Airfix HMS Victory.

Image

As you can see the packaging is a little disreputable, but all the parts seem to be there!

Image

You can also see some photoetched ratlines in 1/700 scale which will be added to the basic kit. In addition I will be following Chuck E's method of cutting down the masts to size and eliminating a few sails.

You may need a similar amount of magnification as Nelson, Andrew

Well, it turned out that the deck piece was missing :omg

So I had to scratchbuild most bits.
Mountings for the masts will wait until I've scratch-built the masts themselves. I've added two PE grids onto the deck features. These were on the same sheet as the ratlines. So far so good.

Good save Andrew! It's so annoying when second-hand kits have parts missing

It looks very nice anyway. I can't imagine that the original part looked better 8-)

It would have saved a few hours work though! Tonight I've been sawing off cocktail sticks to make the shortened masts.

Will you be putting sausages on the ends of them? :ha:

Nice save indeed. It looks like you had a basic hull in a bag and the rest is scratch-built by you. But it is gonna look much better.

I'm going to use the sails too. But not all of them.

Am I totally bonkers trying to put wheels on the 1/600 cannons on the poop deck? :-D

As long as you are not going to furnish captain's cabin, it is OK, we understand :)
