All of the Vallejo red, yellow and oranges work extremely well with their sand coloured primer.VickersVandal wrote:That red came out well. Red, orange and yellow are always tricky customers.

Re: Andrew's Airfix Ford Trimotor
The red was masked and the silver-grey applied.
I'm pleased with that result. Easier than I expected. I just used several strips of masking tape to go around the arc.
This means that I should be able to do some assembly work over the weekend.
Cheers

The fuselage gets assembled. It wasn't too bad,but there's going to be a little gap over the wings, which is annoyingly prominent
The wing is just dry - fitted for now.
As expected, nothing much can be seen in the passenger cabin!

That gap will be annoying to fill. Corrugated skins are a curse. I'm finding the same issue on the Junkers.
Those poor undercarriage struts are looking a bit sad!

Nasty and frustrating join Andrew. Probably no easy way to fix it either.

So cunning that you can pin a tail on it and call it a weasel.VickersVandal wrote:So cunning you can brush your teeth with it?
I may have to model the little known Wild Weasel variant of the Trimotor...
A little sanding on the Vee in the wing improved things.
I also have the wing canted up a degree or so. There's a little gap now near the cockpit windows. This is much easier to fix, and less visible than the top of wing gap, so it was an acceptable compromise.

Acceptable, indeed! Good work. Do you use Perfect Plastic Putty, by chance?

I alternate between that and Vallejo Acrylic Putty. At the moment it's the Vallejo stuff. They are extremely similar.PaulBradley wrote:Acceptable, indeed! Good work. Do you use Perfect Plastic Putty, by chance?
@Barry Yes, I will sleep much better now
Hopefully I will get some primer and maybe even a top coat on tomorrow.
Cheers

Here's the primer:
And then a coat of the silver grey mix:
The cowling rings look like they need a little smoothing before I try to paint them!

Re: Andrew's Airfix Ford Trimotor
Engine pods now refinished as I could see the seams.
The nose has been smoothed over, reprimed and given another coat of red.
The engine and prop assemblies are largely finished. A sepia wash over the cylinders is the last bit. We also need white tips on the props.
I should be ready to put the undercarriage on and assemble the engine pods now.
Cheers
