Calling International Rescue
Re: Calling International Rescue
Regarding the windows, is the inside of the cockpit flat enough that you could put a sheet of acetate behind them to act as glass?

Re: Calling International Rescue
I am reasonably hopeful of success. The windows aren't as large as some which I've done with Glue'n'glaze.ShaunW wrote:Coming along very nicely indeed. Although I can't tell 100% from here, I would say that Glue'n'Glaze should sort out the flight deck windows for you, certainly it's worth a shot before resorting to overly thick OOB glazing.

Nope, it's curved in two directions, so that's tricky to do with acetate! Plus the framing is quite thick, so it wouldn't look quite right.SBO wrote:Regarding the windows, is the inside of the cockpit flat enough that you could put a sheet of acetate behind them to act as glass?

Yup, this one really brings back the memories.general rocket wrote:Ah! The memories.
Here's the Pod. I may give it another coat of green.
Hopefully there will be pictures of a green TB-2 coming along later.

Re: Calling International Rescue
And Thunderbird 2 goes together very quickly once the paint job is complete.
Everything is a push fit.
The Glue'n'glaze is a tad fiddly to put on those windows, but can be done. It's already nearly dry on some of the windows.

Excellent work Andrew. I always find it a bit disconcerting with G'n'G whilst it is drying but usually it comes up trumps.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

I was pushing it a bit on those windows, they are quite large. It took several attemptsShaunW wrote:Excellent work Andrew. I always find it a bit disconcerting with G'n'G whilst it is drying but usually it comes up trumps.

Looking good, Andrew. What's the plan for the lower windows at the bottom of the front fuselage on each side. I'd love a good solution for those but left mine unglazed when I did my TB2 eons ago.

I think a very dark grey, almost black, and then gloss varnish.dwomby wrote:Looking good, Andrew. What's the plan for the lower windows at the bottom of the front fuselage on each side. I'd love a good solution for those but left mine unglazed when I did my TB2 eons ago.

Re: Calling International Rescue
The very tiny Thunderbird 4. It still has 5 parts, without the searchlight array!
The arms for the searchlight array are not on yet. They look a bit clunky, so if I have suitable spare photoetch bits, I will replace them.
The launch gantry has been embellished with a bit of photoetch - from a 1/700 set of Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft catapults! Derek Meddings was a master of making things look right, so this is a homage That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Re: Calling International Rescue
The PE additions certainly look the part!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

That looks great, an excellent alternative use for those Japanese catapults
