Re: Andrew's Firestreak Hunter
It took four or five coats of orange to get the luminosity I wanted. And this is not Vallejo's fastest drying paint either. Fortunately I was working from home today, so I could apply coats every couple of hours.
Colour scheme loosely based on a scheme used by the Royal Navy Fleet Requirements and Direction Unit (FRADU).
A few areas to touch up with grey. A few streaks of orange were rubbed off with my thumbnail (digital technology strikes again )
Now the black antiglare panel and radome need painting.

Nice! Looking good, Andrew.
A few streaky orange bits would probably be a nice touch of weathering - that Dayglo paint didn't wear well.

It's pretty fragile on here too. I suspect there will be battle damage by the time I get the wheels and underwing thingies on!PaulBradley wrote:Nice! Looking good, Andrew.

Orange can be a bit of a sod! Vallejo is one of the least bad, as you have demonstrated, well done so far.
I wish, that I knew what was doing!

Re: Andrew's Firestreak Hunter
Previously I used Model Colour Orange on sand primer, and that's excellent. Two coats maximum. The Vallejo Air equivalent doesn't seem to cover as well. I'm going to try it on the sand primer next time.general rocket wrote:Orange can be a bit of a sod! Vallejo is one of the least bad, as you have demonstrated, well done so far.

Re: Andrew's Firestreak Hunter
The big decals are on.
I'm working on the assumption that XL580, the airframe depicted in the Admiral's Barge scheme in the kit was converted to the P1130 standard. This lets me use a lot of the kit decals.
The black Royal Navy and VL decals are from an Xtradecal sheet, as the kit ones were in white.
There are a bazillion stencils still to apply

A small fraction of the stencilling has been applied.
A number of almost invisible yellow stencils will be ignored!

That's looking great, Andrew. Well done with the orange. Strange how that colour seems to be a challenge for most paint makers.
I am tempted to get one of those T7s myself after watching this.

It is not a good kit. You would need the Freightdog correction set too.dwomby wrote:That's looking great, Andrew. Well done with the orange. Strange how that colour seems to be a challenge for most paint makers.

Almost puts you into the resin kit price bracket.
Converting the Revell F.6 with a resin set is popular here : http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/inde ... t7-in-172/;

OK - you convinced me. I'll stick with my old Air Conversions noses for my T7s.AndrewR wrote:It is not a good kit.
