I'm so impressed with not just the modelling skills but the ability you have to see the possibilities to make something else so different from the original model.

Cheers David, I suppose it comes from a lifetime of wanting to make versions of things that no manufacturer made...or were too expensive and I thought, 'B****r that! I'll make my own!'
Meanwhile, I'm forging ahead
...and starting the conversion of the kit musket (inset) into the Volcanic Repeater rifle used in the closing scene.

Rifle conversion set to one side whilst the Milliput extension to the butt sets.
Now the fun bit, the poncho! This looks like being a combination of modelling, sculpting and origami. The Guardsman in the kit has a kinda 4 part tabard, Hopefully I'll be able to use filler and masking tape to join the parts up to a poncho shape. Once painted, the masking tape should maintain it's shape unless mishandled. (well, it does in 1/32 -1/35, we'll see how it behaves in this scale)
After that, the small matter of doing the pattern on the poncho!

Re: PT changes the guard
Same as that!! I look at a figure (or any kit for that matter) and I see....pretty much what's on the box front really, give or take some alternative markins or what have you; but surgery like this is beyond my 'kendwomby wrote:I'm so impressed with not just the modelling skills but the ability you have to see the possibilities to make something else so different from the original model.

Best wishes

Cheers Iggie. The converting of the figures is fairly straightforward, it's all the stuff like guitars, completely different weapons etc that are the tricky bits. I was thinking of doing a music one as well, in 1/16, but the prospect of making a 1/16 scratch built guitar is a bit daunting!

Re: PT changes the guard
Trimming a beaver and doing a butt augmentation!
I had tried to use kit parts as much as possible, but the curled up side of the big floppy musketeer hat refuses to stay in the line that I reshaped it to, pesky soft plastic So I've made another brim from an oval pancake of Milliput, VERY carefully sanded to as close as possible to the correct shape and thickness as I dare go. Onto finishing the rifle now that the Milliput butt extension is set enough to sand down.

Merci beaucoups mes amis.
Loads of fun cutting short lengths of thread and teasing the strands apart to make the poncho fringe, even more fun gluing the on!
