Like the Few dollars more one, but with more black*FINISHED*

A simple GB, convert one thing to another - any subject, any scale, any era, any method, but ending up with a different variant, than what the bits provide for in the box.
GB runs 16th April to 29th May and your host is Martin R.

Like the Few dollars more one, but with more black*FINISHED*

Post by Purplethistle »

A couple of days ago, on my other thread I mentioned that I had another figure in mind using the Mini Art French Musketeer (practically identical to the Guardsman, slightly different hand positions & tabard decals) but was daunted by making a 1/16 guitar. The next day, my tickets to see that very subject arrived! I take this as a sign.

I seem to remember a mention by yourself of Richie Blackmore. Could he be the man?
(using the crypticness of black and more  )

And Nigel gets it! :-D
I've already done one in 1/32, and thought that it was one of the best that I had done, but the 1/16 madness is upon me and even the prospect of scratchbuilding a Fender Stratocaster in that scale will not daunt me.

Box and first lashing on of Milliput to make flares, hair and bulk out the tapered jacket to make a loose shirt, having shaved off unnecessary buttons & stuff.

Having measured my Strat and done all the scaling down calculations, I've made scale plans of a Strat and cut a body from balsa wood. I was going to do a 1977 Munich gig -era white Strat with black scratchplate, but having cut the body with the balsa grain going in the right direction, I think it would be rather neat to try to get the body shape right first time with no filler so I can varnish it to do as a 1973 California Jam era natural maple Strat. The first body has got a couple of wee nicks where the balsa split so I'm making another, hopefully immaculate, one.

Brilliant, another masterpiece to watch being built.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.
