Yes, I would go to that bother just for a joke!

A simple GB, convert one thing to another - any subject, any scale, any era, any method, but ending up with a different variant, than what the bits provide for in the box.
GB runs 16th April to 29th May and your host is Martin R.

Yes, I would go to that bother just for a joke!

Post by Purplethistle »

My mate Billy Rankin, the ex-Nazareth guitarist, recorded a song called 'Baby come back' in the mid 80s with a line in it that goes, 'My heart ain't made of plastic...' I haven't wound him up for a wee while now, and I'm enjoying this G.B. so, using one of the figures from the 1/35 Master Box Friendly boxing match set I thought I'd kill two birds and all that! :-D

That figure was born made to play guitar!

Most of the figures in this set are looking good to convert to guitarists or vocalists, not just for the poses, but also the animated faces. The only bearbuggerer is that they seem smaller than other 1/35 figures, tsk!

I had my suspicions about that while working on their French Hussar. Sounds like Master Box like their fighters smallish.

Not far off it Andrew! I lined up some different makers' figures to compare. 1/ 35 Master box figures, Tamiya British Infantry and Italeri Panzer crewmen. Whilst the heights are quite close, the head, feet and hands of the MB ones are all about 20% smaller and noticeably thinner. Mini Art "1/35" figures are also quite slight, though not quite as much as the MB ones.

PT,

I think I'd have had to be a '70s rock afficionado to fully appreciate your figure builds.

You don't fancy a Debbie Harry figure, do you?

Regards

Who didn't fancy Debbie Harrys figure back then? :-D

Billy is pretty much finished, and if I have time I'll add a wee Dan McCafferty too, portrayed performing 'Hair of the dog' with the vocoder made to look like a bagpipe set. I used to have a Historex bagpipe in my stash many many moons ago but it's gone walkabout so I'll have to scratch a set

Me, actually, but then again, while I was old enough to dislike the audio, I was not old enough to take an interest in the critter producing it, so that may not count..

Probably just that your hormones hadn't kicked in yet Rob! I wasn't particularly keen on the music, but I do recall 'Pitching a tent' in the living room, watching Top of the pops with my parents in the room the first time that she was on TOTP

Reminiscences aside......heeeeeeeeeere's Billy!

I've covered the procedure in previous conversions....Sanding down combat trousers, blah blah.....adding filler for hair, blah blah, sanding down army boots to make trainers....although I did use the kit figure's towel to make the bandana

That looks awesome. Very well done.
And when it comes to the erstwhile Miss D Harry, I had a life size poster of her on my bedroom wall when I was a teenager, yes I was a fan. Also had similar posters of Joan Jett and Souxie (of 'and the Banshees) fame.

All the best.
