Time to float this one:
I was considering adding some crew, but having looked at it again, am undecided, so am calling this done now.
For the benefit of anyone finding this post in the future and wanting to know what paints and how I painted it etc:
1. The model is entirely hand painted in the traditional way - with a brush. I used a half-inch flat for most of the large areas and a number 00, 1 and 2 size.
2. Paints used were Revell Aqua - 37 for the lower red on hull, 8 matt black and 76 grey for upper hull and superstructure. The deck was 57 with a little bit of 77 for the dark section at end of the flight deck ramp. A little white was also needed in a couple places The aircraft and deck vehicles were painted with whatever odds and ends I had in other pots and mixed up as necessary. At times parts were glossed up using the floor polish technique and I use Astonish brand, instead of Klear, then it was dulled down again, using a mix of Revell aqua matt varnish mixed with some floor polish to dull it but not totally flatten and whiten it which the varnish can do sometimes if used on its own.

Well done. I like the details like the rust stains on the hull.

Great job and a magnificent looking finish!
Best wishes

Thank you for all looking in and commenting in the final mess result I have ended up with, and for encouraging and jeering me along the way.
At times it was frustrating but overall it is a pretty straightforward build and with some reasonable pre-planning there were not many times when it was hard to have easy access and ability to hold it or subsections and not fear for little bits dropping off - like I have nearly now encountered with the new tool seaking! (but that's another model and another story!)
I just hope that this build log will help and inspire someone else to get theirs out and build it.
For me, the build review that appeared in the 2016 Airfix catalogue thing, featured a build of the kit by Stuart Fone - one of the AMW editors and that helped inspire me a lot and I did refer back regularly over past 4 weeks to see how he tackled the task, although he built in a format ideal for airbrushing, and I only brush-paint.

Fantastic job Chris and an amazing finish with a brush. I'm always impressed by how you achieve such great results so quickly.

Thank you again to those who have stopped by in the last 48 hours.
Daz - once I get going I get going and generally have a plan for working it in stages so that as one is drying/resting I have other stuff to do and then it all meets up later on. In fact for this build I had some bits done very early on, that I purposely didn't reveal until quite late on so as to keep progression and structure to the log so it wasn't too bitty.
