Marky's Halibag **DNF**

Post by MarkyM607 »

I have been meaning to do this kit for some time, in prototype markings. It is in green/brown camo with yellow undersides!!. The kit allows you (according to the box), to do different versions, a GR.11 series 1a, a B.1 and a B.11 (kit designations!!). The nose is in two options, one solid plexiglass and the other with a turret. It also has pointed and rectangular tail fins.
Pics tomorrow hopefully.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Finally some update pics. Being slack with this lately. Better improve.
This is the square window (not the round one or the rectangular one!!!), on the fuselage side, on the aircraft I am modelling (the second prototype), there are four small circular windows so this one, and the one on the opposite side, have to be filled and then a new window drilled out.
Image
And the fuselage together. I've added the separate nose section since this. There's a little bit of a line where they join but it should be okay with some work. Really not that much to worry about. I hope.

Tails going on, good fit so far, the separate nose section leaves a seam which is a little hard to get rid of, at least for me on the right side!.

Good stuff Mark and a great choice of subject, I don't think I've seen a build of a Halifax prototype.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Thanks Shaun. It appealed to me as soon as I saw the artwork in the Warpaint. Hopefully it's as simple a change as I think, mainly the side windows!!.

I don't know!, slacking on pic posting then two days in a row!!. The wings and engines are together. And together!!...

She's really close to finishing, at least construction wise. Paint scheme is brown and green but it seems a lighter brown than Dark Earth (Hum 29). Not sure whether to do L7244 or L7245. either way I need to make some serial numbers for under the wings. It doesn't have fuselage markings apart from the roundels.

This is coming together very nicely Mark. I'm not really up on "accurate" RAF shades and with bombers tend to stick to Hu-30 for the green and 29 for the brown or their Tamiya equivalents.

Me too, although I was told Hum116 is a better shade than 30. I did use 30 and 29 for years before that!. Still, I only have black and white 'live' pictures of the aircraft so I'll go with the artwork unless I can tell it's a darker brown in the photos.

Many people spend lots of precious modelling time arguefying if Humbrol 30 is the 'right' shade of green.
If it suits you use it
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Struggling a bit, been doing extra at my morning job, feel tired anyway so that's just adding to it. However the Halifax is getting dressed...
Image
Camo is on but needs tidying up, especially around the engines. This isn't helped by the fact that three of the props are glued solid!  Then it's canopy on and painted, markings are basic so that's helpful. Wheels might need painting again. Will have a busy day tomorrow!!. Peterborough Model Show on Sunday too!!.
