Re: The Blitzbau House returns Friday 24th
Woohoo! The boys are back in town
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Exceeeeeeeelent news, a Blitz GB is not the same without a Blitzbau House entry.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

I think my daughter is still too young to watch this. Mainly because of what you eat

That sounds like a challenge James. Does she like kebabs yet?JamesPerrin wrote:I think my daughter is still too young to watch this. Mainly because of what you eat
Whatever is consumed will be washed down with my home brew Peach & Blood Orange Cider.
I have decided to have a crack at this for my entry:
I will be aiming to complete this as a Sea Harrier serving during the Falklands war. I've always wanted to do a SHAR from 82 but never got round to it. I did buy a Matchbox kit for this once but it disappeared during a house move. I know she binned it!
Should be a straight forward paint scheme of EDSG all over.
Cosmic is going for something far too big and redonkulous for a Blitz but he is definately in the 'Size Matters' camp.
Either of these:
I'm betting on the Stug as it has a bigger gun & he's definatly trying to compensate for something.
Finnski may be joining us but not sure yet as he has not been well.
Paul, Patron of the Blitzbau house will provide us with all we need (including a MASSIVE tv) but most importantly bacon buns on Saturday morning & internet access.
Hope you can join us. We will be kicking off with a pre Blitz meal & drinks before starting. Don't worry, we are grown men. What could go wrong?

Re: The Blitzbau House returns Friday 24th
Excellent, I'm on with a Falklands Shar myself as I've never done one either and it is a hole in my collection that needs filling. Cosmic is really setting himself a challenge with either of those two. It's hard to say whether the old Tamiya Stug IV will be less fiddly than that Meng Toyota Technical (pick up with an AA gun in the back) but perhaps the latter can be built as a straight civvy Hi-Lux pick up without the AA gun, which would save time. I'll bet there's quite a few parts in either kit however and certainly more than I would contemplate for a blitz!
Handling poisonous glues and sharp knives after a few warm up drinks? I can't see how anything could go wrong OT. In fact I think a snifter or two will help steady any pre-blitz nerves, which is a good thing surely. Anyway, what's a missing finger or two between mates?

Sounds like this is going to be a classic!
We'll wave on Saturday morning as we go past on our way up to Bamburgh for the weekend, good luck with the builds and I hope Finnski is well enough to join you

I have never followed a build of this genre before, but I feel from comments above I could be in for something but not sure what. Can anyone enlighten me please

Re: The Blitzbau House returns Friday 24th
The ZPU-1 in that pickup goes together easily enough, but if that is the original kit then the barrel (and change handle) is too long by about 5mm - it may not matter to anyone.

It's my model and I'll do what I want with it.

Re: The Blitzbau House returns Friday 24th
It's not really that exciting Chris. Just a bunch of like minded model making friends get together and go for a straight 24 hour build. Its sort of like an old gentleman's club where they serve fine food and quaffing is a given. It is amazing how steady your hand is after 12 hours on the booze.chrism wrote:I have never followed a build of this genre before, but I feel from comments above I could be in for something but not sure what. Something nearly always goes wrong.
