Ray'S Sentry

From 1 April 1918, to present, celebrating anything RAF -- land, sea, air, person -- any kit, any scale, not whiffs. This GB incorporates the 617 Sqn/Opn Chastise 75th GB. Originally a 3 month GB, it is now super-extended through the rest of 2018. Part started kits will also be allowed to join.

Looking good, Ray. This is certainly an impressive model and would make a great centrepiece to any collection of modern military aircraft.

Thanks guys, getting my paint set up going again after an overhaul and purchasing a 'backup' compressor from Aldi.

I found a few more areas that needed some filling, so it should be back in the spray booth later in the week.

Yep, been here for years (since 2001 according to their website). Our local store is closing down because it is too small! I suspect they are looking for bigger premises and the lease is running out.

Oh, and I managed to get the airbrush and compressor working last night and have finally got a base coat of Barly grey on it. time for some masking and more paint..

So in the spray booth, I managed to yet again to tap a couple of the probes which went pinging off into the bowls of the garage to be found in 2023 when I decide to do a thorough clean up of the place.

Here is reconstructed wing probe (for the 3rd time)

And the tail probe refitted and faired in

I did manage to splash some paint on some of the other antennas that did not separate and the engine intakes and exhausts only to notice a few more spots that needed putty attention.

Hopefully the next visit tot eh paint booth is the last.

Dangerous work swinging these large models around the paint shop. Something always gets knocked off or knocked over. :-|

I often leave the small antennae off to avoid handling damage but then have to face the risk of causing damage to the paint job when attaching them at the end of the build! Looking forward to more on this, Ray.

Well, this one has languished a bit due to lack of motivation and the fact I had to empty 4 rooms in the for recarpeting (including my modelling space).

The good news is that the main painting is done, I have just some fiddley masking on the engines and undercarriage to complete. I was trying to figure the best and quickest way to do this and I think I have come up with a plan, So some updates will be coming this weekend. My renewed mojo has also spawned and build thread for a new subject.
