Strange how a monitor can shift the color hue of something. You noted that my model looks dove gray in color, and when I brought this up on my work computer, it does indeed look like a medium gray shade. In actuality, the color is a light grayish tan that I mixed from Tamiya Deck Tan, Sky Gray, and Gloss White.
John, this is like when you built that gold Claude some years ago, and it looked green on my computer screen.
Only reason I remember that is because I recently relocated and bookmarked your build for my own upcoming Claude project.

More great progress here, chaps, these Zeroes are coming on a treat. Those figures are really nicely sculpted and look more like 1/35th examples than 1/72nd.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Lovely progress on both of these - well done to both of you.
Ralph, that looked like a wonderful place for a hike!

It was, Stuart. I love to scramble over boulders and climb rocks. I can't wait for covid to end so I can start going back to the climbing gym.
Meanwhile, I put decals on zeros.
Hopefully the color on this image is more true to life.

Monitor calibration can indeed be a problem. I wasn't criticizing color choice, only commenting on how it appeared to me. Dove gray has been a color suggestion for Zeroes. I know you've followed some of the arguments and I wondered if you'd gone down that way. It looks good with a nice smooth finish.Softscience wrote:Strange how a monitor can shift the color hue of something. I've slowed down a bit. I'm having poor reaction to my blood pressure meds. Keeps knocking me on my ass. Not happy as I'm really enjoying our SB.
Really nothing pithy to say.

Sorry to hear that, John. Are docs trying to figure out the right dosage for you, or is it the drug side effect?

I'm afraid I struggle a bit with the shades of colours regardless of my computer screen due to my colour blindness but that certainly looks the part to me, Ralph.
Sorry to hear about your continuing health woes, John and I can but wish you all the very best and hope the doctors resolve your issues quickly.

Thanks for the concern, guys. Yeah, we're chasing the proper dosage.
I see you've gone for Akagi markings. The Pearl Harbor Memorial has a 1/96th Akagi with full air wing on display. It's an impressive model. A modeling buddy of mine from Hono made all the planes of the air wing. It was quite a chore he was pleased to have finished.
Your model looks really good, Ralph.

I'm nearly done now. Just need to add the whirly spinny bit at the front.

Back building again.
This is the Type 32 Hamp. These photos are meant to show just how tight the fit is. Not a bit of filler required and the seam has just been lightly sanded. The bottom view is just more of the same with the added detail of arresting hook bay blanked off. This kit offers use of the hook for one of the schemes and blanked off for the other two. The Type 32 was more known for its use from land bases. I won't be doing any of the kit schemes, but another from the Tainan air group. So I'm using the blanking plate.
The Type 21 I'm doing is from the Tora Butai, also primarily land based. Both kits are progressing nicely.

This is without a doubt, the best fitting kit I have ever built.

I think my zero is done. I'll post more photos in the aviation forum. This kit was a ton of fun. So much so, that I might pick up an A6M3.
But I'm going away on a short siesta for a few days, so probably nothing more from me, until next week.
