Shaun, you are really bringing this old classic forward! This and Hasegawa's 37mm single version were favorites of mine as a kid. Ii is really fun watching you realize what I'd only dreamed of doing with this kit back then!

Thank you, Tim, this is not a kit that I built in my youth and I'm really glad you like what I'm doing with it.

I have now mocked the model up for some pre-paint photos. The chassis and body are not cemented together and the fit of the two is actually quite good, which will enable me to paint them separately and then fit the front wheels and the tracks more easily as the body will not be getting in the way. The side screens are cemented on, as is the gun mounting disc, but the gun itself is simply placed onto the mount for the purposes of the photos:









Next up I am going to turn my attention to the Matchbox base that I intend to photograph the finished model on and hopefully use to photograph future builds. I have assembled the base but I would like to make some alterations, if I think they are feasible, in order to increase the available display space.

I'll be interested to see which MB base you are adapting for this. I have a couple which really need the ground area expanding to make them better for display (17pdr and Char B1 bases).

Funnily enough I was thinking about magazines for the gun the other day, Ben, as Hasegawa did not see fit to include any such in the kit. In the end, I have decided to prioritise scratching up some tools to be attached the underside of the folding sides, post paint, rather than gun mags as I'm not modelling any figures and I don't think the missing mags will detract from the finished article too much. I really need to move this project along now (without rushing it off) as it has been on the bench for over a year.

The base is from the Monty's Caravan set and was sent to me a while ago (not specifically for this build) by a member who is sadly no longer with us and that makes me a little more nervous about sanding bits off it than I would be had the base had come out of my own spares. That said though, I like to think that he would have been more likely to have encouraged me to make alterations than to have tried to put me off.

Many thanks for the kind words, Cardinal. As for the thickness of the plastic card, I'm afraid I know not - all of my plastic card stock is kept together and I tend to choose what I think is a suitable thickness for a build purely by eye.
