It's the base model John. Only Zvezda so far has released a -30 length kit. To make the Italeri kit as a -30 you need to modify it with fuselage plugs as I did with my L-100-30

Italeri reboxed their kit as a HC-130J

It is their standard kit with no extra HC parts like the chin optical turret and antennas peculiar that type.

It's not John, it is the base model length.

That´s a nice kit. The HC-130J is a little bit longer than the C130J C5. 99 feet from nose to tail.

Thanks, Ray & Bissy. I am confused, but I think I understand that the USCG HC130-J is the standard length fuselage, 99 inches +/-, not the extended fuselage of the C-130J-30.

Ray, you have given me plenty of info to convert a C-130J-30 to something like a HC-130J +/- -- Thanks !

I am still searching the world-wide-web for the Italeri #1348 1:72 US Coast Guard HC-130J (of which you guys show plenty of pix) - which I believe would be the 99inch fuselage HC-130J, but have found numerous OOP, OOS, etc. I do have one feeler out. I also have an Italeri #1255 1:72 C-130J Hercules II (Super ?) on order just to compare, and maybe slice & dice if necessary.

Stuart, this is all your fault !!!

John,

I have the kit in my stash and 2 decal sheets! I am finally able to explore the stash again as I set up the model room and storage in the garage, so went digging and found them.

I can send over one of these sheets over to you, all you need to do is to find any* C-130J kit.

* Well at least an Italeri later boxing (Kit no 1255, either the 2006 or 2014 boxing), not the earlier 1994 release or the Testors reboxing of that Italeri kit.

Or you could grab the Zvezda C-130J-30 if you are game to cut it up! (though I am not sure the decals would fit this kit).

I'm really pleased about this as that USCG Herc is such a wonderfully colourful looking aircraft I'd love to see one built.

I'm thinking that as GBL, I might try a push the boat out and build two (this is just me thinking - might not actually happen :-D). As well as the 'classic' 1980's RAF bird I really fancy building a Vietnam era AC-130 Spectre, although maybe in 1/144. I'll have see what kits are out there.

I'm really chuffed that this GB is going ahead, it's nice to see a bigger less glamorous type getting some love.

I would love to join the GB, but I´m already working on a massive C130J C5. I can´t accommodate space for another Herc. It´s a shame. I would love to build one of those AC-130H gunships in medium grey. But I´ll be watching attentively from the get go. 8-)

I should update this with Thanks to RayS, not just with all the info which has allowed me to sort out all C130 versions so that I have a proper HC-130J kit, but also his spare decals for the aircraft. !!!

Have we started yet ? I may need to get it airborne if Hurr LEE gets closer :)

Count me in for this with the 1/72 scale Italeri kit of the old Blue Angels Fat Albert.
