Got something to say about the hobby of model making?

So what have you finished in 2023?

Post by Stuart »

I seem to remember that last year we had a combined finishes thread - so whilst I'll share my finishes as I'm unlikely to complete anything else this year, please feel free to bung your builds in as well if you'd rather not start your own thread.

So 16 finishes for me this year which is cool. I do feel like I had a good year, although I wasn't always on line I was always building. That being said I do feel like it's dropped off over the last few months - probably due to workloads and possibly too many GB's.

Airfix 1/72 Gloster Javelin

Monogram 1/72 Tornado GR.1 (technically finished although I need to finish up that WE.177)

Image

Esci 1/72 F-100 Super Sabre

Image

Airfix 1/72 P-80C Shooting Star

Image

Airfix 1/72 F-35C Stater set

Image

Revell/Special Hobby 1/72 Vampire

Image

Airfix 1/72 P-51D

Image

Hobbyboss 1/72 Brewster Buffalo - my first all airbrushed build with scratch-built interior and modded to an RAF aircraft.

Image

Airfix 1/72 Hawker Hurricane - with two blade prop.

Image

PM models 1/72 Super Marine Spitfire mk.V floatplane 'the Red Herring', based on my daughters short story. Defo my favourite build this year.

Airfix 1/72 Fiat G.50bis

Image

Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire mk.I

Image

Airfix 1/72 Hawker Hurricane mk.I

Image

Citadel/Warhammer 40K Terminator squad (started in 2017)

Image

Airfix 1/72 Bristol Blenheim mk.IF - probably my last and definitely my least favourite build this year.

So over to you - what have you guys built this year?

16 finishes is excellent and those are top notch builds! If I can get the swingers GB entry done by boxing day that will be 27 done for me, but I plan to make my own thread later.

I was aiming for 24 so I'm glad to have overshot rather than undershot. Last year I fell short by I think 4, which irked me.

By the way, I LOVE that Red Herring spit! Absolute art!

lol! Thanks - It's my favourite build of this year definitely. I have a feeling that I may be getting another of my daughter's 'Eccentric Ernst' stories for Christmas, so there may well be another weird and wacky aircraft in 2024.

Nice work, Stuart!

And there's no reason to share your thread - others can make their own!

That's a cracking collection of builds Stuart, but the star has to be the 'Red Herring' 😀
Best wishes

16 built is a lot let alone Andy's 46. When did you eat and sleep Andy?

I'm on 26 completions, which is better than usual, and there's a sporting chance of 2 more before the New Year.

I've got three almost complete models on the bench which will bring my output to a round 20, so I'll hold off on creating a new topic until those are done. :-D
