Modelling Plans for 2024?
Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
It's disappeared from our website that's either because there's an update coming or it's wrong there's little else on any website. I disagree calling them locusts I'd go for leeches myself.

Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
My plans for 2024 are:
* Finish the Peru - Ecuador project, which will be officially half way there when I get this Su-22;
* Crack on with the Turkish Air Force, which I haven't even scratched the surface of (the probable source of subject for the Aerobatic Teams GB later next year);
* Start the 1939 Polish Air Force project - not too many different types in this one, so it might even get finished ;
* Put together some types for VMA-542 Squadron, USMC;
* Maybe even do some US Navy types for the Korean War.
Everything naturally in 1/72 (I'm not being awkward, I have limited display space). There, that ought to keep me busy.
Bummer to hear about Vallejo being sold to asset strippers though. I've got used to using Vallejo paints.

Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
Just muddle through as usual. Not many GBs here next year to fit my subject matter choices and/or schedule (not complaining about that btw!). So I'll have to choose stuff to do on my workbench. GBs help me greatly to pick what to build next but I'll keep busy somehow.

I'd not heard that - I hope nothing changes, they're my fave paints
All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Asset strippers! Never good newswokka wrote: ↑December 22nd, 2023, 11:04 amAKA Locusts. They descend on a victim, strip it bare then move onto the next. As Vallejo, I don't use their paints but their reputation is good and it would be a real shame if the Brand is adversely affected.JohnRatzenberger wrote: ↑December 21st, 2023, 7:16 pm"venture capital" == "bad news"

Oh hell! Vallejo are really good, easy to use and round here easy to get.
I wish, that I knew what was doing!

Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
When this first surfaced, I did a Google "acrylicos vallejo company bought ?"
This returned one result, from dakkadakka.com, which said ""The private equity firm ProA Capital has closed the acquisition of a majority stake of approximately 70% on Acrylicos Vallejo for €50 million, according to the newspaper Expansión.""
There are a couple links within, I quit looking, waiting to find out it fell through or something.
davem's post, just above, seems to have more useful info.

Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
Just to finish something, anything, I don't care what subject!! This has been my worst year for completions, i.e. none, since I joined the forum back in November 2011. Still, I'm going part time with work next year so I should, hopefully, get something done. But don't hold me to that
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
Amen to that Shaun, if it weren't for the two Blitzbaus each year I don't think I'd ever complete anything. I have so many projects that are 70-90% finished but require difficult or challenging paint work or decal application that I then bottle it. So here is what I'd like to move from the shelf of doom to a display cabinet in 2024:
Airfix 1/48 EE Lightning in Rothmans Racing colours (using 1/43 & 1/24 slot car decals)
ditto for Revell/Monogram 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf110 in Gulf Racing colours.
90% finished Tamiya 1/6 Honda CB750F
Revell 1/48 Rockwell B-1B Lancer because it is such a beast!
More wall art kit projects - possibly with a view to selling a view to see what the market would be like - I'm thinking ALDI/LIDL cheapo kits and Home Bargains art canvases plus a large mark up when finished and bosh, this time next year Rodney we'll be millionaires!!
A guy can dream can't he...
Cheers
Al.

Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
I have a fairly full study regime next year but I see that as even more reason to get my modelling back in hand, as a form of chill and relaxation. I have very belatedly discovered modelling on Youtube and my plan for 2024 is to apply a lot of those simpler techniques to my modelling so that I can actually get a few completions on the board.
I'm aiming low but would be happy to have six kits completely completed by this time next year.

Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
Pitty about Vallejo getting attacked by the blood sucking leaches.
You know they're going to push for quantity over quality.
Best wishes to Wokka for a.speedy recovery.
As for modeling plans, I think 24 will be a continuation 23. That is to say, mostly armor, maybe one or two large scale planes, and maybe a handful of 1/72 planes for quick fix palette cleansers between bigger builds. I was hoping to participate in Andrew's civi build, but I'll be in Singapore for half that month.
I want to focus on focusing, and slowing down and being mindful of what I'm doing, instead of thinking a few steps ahead most of the time. I need to slow down and pay attention, so I stop making rookie mistakes and mess up good work by trying to cut corners.

Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
For me it will be wanting to finish a few models I have on the go. Do a couple of big builds. (C130 and maybe a 1/24 scale, possibly the Airfix ME109E.
A serious stash reduction may be on the cards too. (They will he offered here first)
And hopefully get to a model show or two.
All the best

I've quite a few shelf queens that I want to get out of the way plus there is the Latin American GB, The Aerobatic and possibly the Weather related GBs to consider.

Re: Modelling Plans for 2024?
With the loss of my old modelling buddy, Bob, I will be looking at a solution for future modelling. This may mean a major stash reduction of all those models that I'm not going to get around to. I still have loads of projects planned, so I may actually decide to retire, after all. I haven't lost the plot, yet, and still intend to carry on as long as I can.
1. Make more use of the available space to have some small displays. I can't get much permanent, but can rotate models.
2. Continue with my Photo Library of models, so that they will be LIVE on FLIKR all the time. Just completing photographic baseboards for these.
3. Move models out of the attic to make space for older kits that won't be displayed at shows. All current stuff to be properly boxed.
4. Finish the On-line Model Museum. As the Euro lottery hasn't supplied funds for a real one, I'll do it in a virtual setting.
5. Thin out the stash. ( Watch out for this.)
6. Get more modelling done.
Roll on Spring, when I shall start the big project.

So many models, so little time.
